FULL APPEARANCE:
Triskelion looks like a woman who's done some hard work in her life, muscular and square-shouldered with nothing slight about her. She also looks like she's had quite a long life, with the original dark brown of her hair striped with silver, and a face seamed with wrinkles; it's possible that part of that has to do with a life spent outdoors, though, rather than sheer age, because she moves like a woman decades younger than the lines on her face suggest.
Typically to be found in a fitted leather corselet rather than a bodice, she wears armour as though she were born to it, and most people would bet on first seeing her that she was a Hold guard - and they wouldn't be wrong. With a spine as straight as her spear, and well turned-out at all times and in all places, Triskelion carries herself with pride and confidence - although the knots of a wherhandler might help with that. A measured stride and the callouses of long training tell their own tale, even when she isn't on duty.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Triskelion was born to be a Guard, or at least anyone who didn't know her as a youngster would think so. Neat and punctilious, and a stickler for order - when people are watching, at least - the best word to describe her is 'regimented'. She's the sort of person who, when having egg and soldiers for breakfast, assigns each piece of bread a rank, then eats them in rank order. What might be a little more surprising is that she'll start with the Lord Holder and finish with the recruit.
In her own quarters and around her family and trusted friends, Triskelion is actually quite subversive. She taught her grandchildren new words to one of the Harper tunes, then looked innocent when their parents started wondering where they'd picked that up from. She drew eyes on one of the signs in the guardroom when no-one was around. She's forever sending new recruits to stores for long weights and elbow grease, or off to the smiths for some fresh sparks. It's usually harmless if embarrassing, the sort of traditional entertainment that new recruits have been used for since time immemorial, and the running theory is that she's so very straight-laced that if she didn't have some outlet for mischief she'd be absolutely impossible to deal with.
Unfortunately for Triskelion, it's not always well-received, and not everyone has the same sense of humour she does - and jokes played on her, if they aren't the sort of jokes she'd play, don't go down very well. She has a reputation for being difficult to work with, and many of her colleagues either love her or hate her, with very few in between.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Grandchildren, including Tribellick
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Bellinam
BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Hold
HISTORY:
Triskelion was born at High Reaches Hold, just another child among many. Without much talent for anything other than playing pranks and getting into trouble, she wasn't taken up by any of the crafts - but she dreaded the thought of working the fields or the laundry. Triskelion settled on the Hold guard as a potential path with some excitement and a lot of respect, and on her majority she went for it.
Her first few months were gruelling, but she eventually finished the training and settled into the routine of a full-time guard. She married a farmer and children ensued; soon after that brown Risk lost his handler in a small conflict with a band of Holdless, and the wher announced that she was the most promising and chose Triskelion to be his next handler.
(Triskelion's always had an inkling that Risk chose her because her name had 'ri' in it, meaning he could keep the same name he'd already had for decades, but the only time she asked Risk didn't speak to her for a week.)
With Risk to guide and advise her, Triskelion soon found herself leading her own squad - and that's where she stayed, guarding the Hold and occasionally looking in on her kin until the landslide's chaos brought a massive change to the world that she and Risk had occupied for so long. With Triskelion's grandchildren to look after, Triskelion and Risk threw themselves into keeping the children safe and contributing to the weyr that had taken them in - and they've stayed at the weyr, despite how upset Risk has been about the whole thing. But Risk has finally started settling in, and the pair are out and about in their own time a lot more than they have been.
