Aida
"I've heard if I werе tougher then maybe I'd makе it alive.
I got a tender side, I'll need a harder shell to survive.
But if seeing is believing, I don't know I've seen a thing grow without an open coat.
Not without a softness showing." - Soap, The Oh Hellos

FULL APPEARANCE:
Aida is cute like the way an angry pomeranian is cute. Her pale face is sweet, her blue eyes are bright, and her light blonde hair is cut and styled in a way that's a little weird but undeniably her. She wears masculine clothes, typically shirts that are too big for her just so that she can tuck them into her pants so they poof out a little and so she can play with the longer sleeves. However, she suffers from a permanent case of RBF, and the constant scowl on her face keeps her from looking too goofy.
Despite her short stature, Aida walks around with the confidence of someone who can loom over everybody else. She is incredibly fit and is proud of the way she looks. Her hands typically find themselves in her pants pockets so that she doesn't have to figure out what to do with them. She's also left-handed. She still has a scar from when she whacked her head located above her right eyebrow. Sometimes she has a hard time getting out words, but she'll get there. You just gotta give her a second.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Aida is not the same person she was before she found herself with head trauma. Nowadays she's not incredibly motivated to do much, and she's not very focused on whatever she does end up doing. Apathetic is her constant mood, she doesn't really care about you, or herself, or really... anything. She's just sort of floating through life. When it comes to arguments between others, she sides with everyone. She never plays neutral though, she actively supports both sides just to get them off her back. She does this no matter if one person is very clearly wrong in the situation or not.
While her outer shell is pretty hard, she's still a bit of a softie on the inside if you can get to that. Her love of music hasn't faded. If she can find a good harper to listen to, she could sit and listen to them all day. Her sense of humor has always been pretty dry. Aida's love language is physical touch, and if she really likes you, you can expect her to lean on you, hug you, and just generally be in contact with you as much as she can be.

BIRTHPLACE: Fort Hold
HISTORY: [TW: Mentions of Head Trauma]
Aida was born to two farmers at Fort Hold. As the middle child of seven, she always found herself trying her hardest to be heard. It never really affected her too much, but she did try to stay out of sibling fights as much as she could. With six siblings, there were plenty of those. Her childhood was that of the typical holdborn farmer. Once she was old enough to help out in the fields, she did, and she did so without (much) complaint. As she got older, she figured out that she wasn't 100% attached to the female label, but still connected to it. After a little exploration with different terms, she came out as a non-binary woman.
When her eldest sister was searched and went off to Fort Weyr, that lit a fire under Aida. She wanted to stand! She wanted to Impress a dragon and stand and then protect a weyr. It would be way more fun than farming. But, she didn't want to leave home. She was too sentimental and didn't want to leave her family behind... but she reallly wanted to Impress something. There were whers at Fort Hold, she could certainly stand for one of those and Impress one! Then she could protect Fort Hold as a guard! A perfect plan.
She'd stood for the odd wher Hatching at Fort Hold, but never found herself getting much out of it. That was until she was pushing twenty and Lord Vellaren decided to host a Fall Gather. Not just any fall gather, but a fall gather with wher eggs. Much to her surprise, she was given an egg. And how happy she was when a little green wher popped out! Very happy, is the answer. So happy that she just stared at the green until Aidask, her green, told her to feed her.
The next four years seemed to fly by. Wherlinghood came and went and the next thing she knew, she was working as a guard. And then Fort Hold was on fire. What a time to graduate. Many food supplies were gone, and so were many of the cotholds. There were refugees abounding, a Winter famine on the horizon... and then Telgar came and gave them food to last the Winter. Everything seemed to be peaceful once again. She continued working as a guard and enjoyed it way more than she ever did farming.
Then, the revolt. Amidst all the chaos, Aida was hit by an oncoming wher and thrown to the ground. If she had just hit the grass alone, that would have been fine. But, no, she had hit the front of her head off the cart of a wagon. It left a deep, nasty cut right above her eyebrow, but even worse, it knocked her out cold. When she woke up, it felt like the world was spinning every which way, and she ended up hopping up on Aidask's back and wandering away from Fort Hold. Good thing too, since she was going to get banished anyway by virtue of being a wherhandler.
A long trip and the next thing she knew she was at Plateau Hold. Her wound was cleaned and stitched up by a resident healer, but the damage to her frontal lobe was already done. It wasn't looked after properly in the most crucial part of recovery, the first few days. Certain symptoms started popping up, a harder time getting out words, lack of motivation, apathy... her motor function was fine, thank Faranth, but even still. Things had changed.
Aida stayed at Plateau Hold for a handful of years picking up work as a guard there. It was something she already knew how to do, and it wasn't like she couldn't do it. Eventually, she wanted to pick up something new. Familiar just wasn't cutting it anymore. She recently made her way up to High Reaches Weyr to join one of the squads there, Sunburst. What a coincidence it was that one of the squadleader's whers was her green's brother?
She has no plans of getting involved with High Reaches' politics. They're boring and don't interest her. She'll just stick to her work and be happy that way.
