FULL APPEARANCE:
If it looks like a jock and sounds like a jock, then it is a jock, and that holds for Shoresy. The man is 5'10" of pure muscle and takes great care in his form- not his appearance, no, but his form. After being a chubby kid in his youth, Shoresy put in the work and got the athletic body he always dreamed of. Outside of that? The fella doesn't care what he looks like. He'd wear a burlap sack if that's all he had that was clean. He sticks with comfortable, practical clothes. They're a bit on the warmer side, given that he lived up north near the mountains his whole life.
Shoresy's missing a tooth from a skirmish in his youth and his nose is bent out of shape from another. His brown curly hair is (unfortunately) kept in a mullet with the sides shaved, the only saving grace being that it's usually slicked back. His beard is little more than unkempt stubble, but has traces of both red and grey in amongst the brown hairs. His voice doesn't match his stature or his face, being high pitched, nasally, and all around annoying to listen to.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Shoresy is... well, he's insufferable. He's annoying, deliberately annoying. He's a dorky idiot who thinks that he's hot shards. If he asks you a question, without fail he will interrupt your answer with a, "Huh?" He did hear you, he's just interrupting you to piss you off. He loves to take digs at people at all times. Somehow his brain generates these off-the-wall disses and snide remarks (he likes to call them 'chirps') on the spot. Even if he cares about you, even if he loves you, that does not exempt you from getting chirped at.
His emotions are... well, they're a bit all over the place. You wouldn't think that from the start, given that he's a pretty flat guy 9 times out of 10. But, he's a nasty crier. A good Harper's tale will have him crying like a baby. And a hatching? Oh, bring on the waterworks already! Then there's his anger issues. He can go from chill to nuclear in just a few seconds and has a propensity to break smaller items.
It's surprising, but for all of Shoresy's annoyingness, he is a deceptively good leader. His quick mind isn't just good for generating chirps, it can come up with some pretty ingenious ideas on the spot. He hates failure. Loves to win, hates to lose. If he's got a job to do, you can expect him to leave everything he has 'out on the field,' so to speak. He will never take solo credit for any of his accomplishments, always sharing the glory with all who helped him along the way. And if he fails? He will take the entirety of the fault and blame onto his shoulders. He cares about people deeply, even if he barely shows it.
He's deeply self-conscious about his weight and build, and any comments about it will have him off working out within the hour.

BIRTHPLACE: Small hold way up north called Sudbury Hold
HISTORY:
Shoresy was the first and only son of two miners from a small mining hold up north. A few years was all that he had with his parents before a passing sickness came through the area, picking off a handful of miners whose lungs and immune systems couldn't flush out the cold well enough, causing them to lose their lives. Shoresy's parents were among these poor folks. The boy was quickly taken in by an old family friend, Scott, as were two other children whose parents had also passed. Shoresy may have lost his parents, but he did get a new dad and two pretty cool siblings out of the deal.
While his new family did help lessen the loss he felt, they didn't make it go away. Neither did the firelizard that Scott got him on his 12th turnday. Shoresy was quite reasonably depressed having lost his parents, and ended up gaining a fair bit of weight during the grieving process. As time passed, his siblings started figuring out their lives. Morris went away to become a smith, while Carrie left to become a mindhealer. She found a weyrmate along the way, a farmcrafter. Shoresy was happy for them, of course, but he wasn't really smart enough for any of that crafter business. He stuck to doing random odd jobs around the hold, whatever anyone needed to be done, and was willing to pay a few marks for. That seemed enough for him.
But, it wasn't enough for what his adoptive father had in mind for him. Scott was a nice guy who took on the role of being a father with pride. So, he hatched a plan in his brain to set Shoresy on a better path than some odd jobs. He saved up, and on Shoresy's 22nd turnday, got him a wher egg. Shoresy couldn't help but be utterly surprised, but of course he was going to be grateful... even if he didn't particularly want to be a wherhandler. The egg hatched, and Shoresy ended up bonding to a garnet named Shorsk. She was definitely good for him. After going through wherlinghood at the hold, he ended up becoming a guard. Being a guard made him want to get into shape, and by Faranth he sure did. That only made his job easier, and Shorsk sure wasn't going to let him slack off, so he ended up becoming fairly good at his job.
Since they lived pretty far up north, as north as the Northern Barrier Range would allow, it was pretty darn cold. Snow started falling pretty early on in the Fall, and you could reasonably expect it to stick around until late Spring. In his off time, he and some of the guards would go out on the nearby lake with ice skates- just shoes with a thin metal blade on the bottom, rudimentary for certain, but they got the job done- and mess around. Even made up a game with some sticks they carved up and a decently round rock. Pretty fun, definitely a good way to pass the time.
Of course, while he liked his guard buddies, and he loved his family, he was... honestly, he wasn't too pleased with how his life was. Yes, it was good. And yes, he understood that it was good. But, it wasn't what he had chosen for himself. So, he wanted to make his own path, branch off from what his father had set him to. Shoresy packed up his and Shorsk's stuff and headed down to High Reaches. He joined up with the Sunburst crew and has been working as hard as he would back when he was a guard. All in all, he likes it, although he's still getting used to how warm it in High Reaches is relative to the mountains.
