PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Orpheus can talk your ear off if he so chooses. He knows a great many things and loves to share info. But otherwise he keeps to himself, and loves to study and practice playing his lyre.
He finds happiness in being alone, and will abstain from spending time with his more rambunctious neighbors. However, to those who break through and accept him as friend, he is incredibly loyal and devoted. He loves his friends truly, madly, deeply, and will always stand up for them should they be in trouble. He’s not the strongest person, but he feels very strongly and will easily grow to pick up on others’ emotions if he cares about them enough. Otherwise, he will seem cold and distant to those he doesn’t know or doesn’t care for.
Orpheus actually has a silly side, making funny drawings when he can in his notes and has a surprisingly quick response when it comes to making dry humor. He also has a penchant for imitating various animal calls, and can be found practicing them where he will not disturb his fellow weyr inhabitants. He also has a tendency to write poems and stories about what he sees or what he thinks he should see.
Intra-weyr politics are literally beyond the scope of his sight. He doesn’t care much for politics and doesn’t much pay attention to who does what unless it’s particularly bad. He also has an incredibly forgiving viewpoint if a person who commits some sort of political sin if the person has a good reason and feels remorse.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Oeagrus ( Harper, Father, deceased )
Polymnia ( Harper, Mother )
BIRTHPLACE: Harper Hall
HISTORY:
His history is a sad one.
He loved his parents dearly, and tended to sing with them as he learned to speak. He had no shortage of friends whom he could charm with his voice and was even quite vocal as he grew more and more.
But his father, the person he looked up to the most, grew ill. He found it hard to breathe and to talk, and eventually the disease took him from Orpheus and his mother. They both mourned but Polymnia eventually recovered and resumed her life of song and teaching. Orpheus bounced back as well, thanks to the attentive nature of his mother friends and mindhealers. Granted, singing still was something he felt was beyond him, and never raised his voice in song again. Even now, he has a sketched picture his mother made framed among his possessions and leaves flowers next to it when they’re available.
As hr grew older, Polymnia was faced with another problem: Orpheus had zero ambition. He was a talented young singer but had no desire to be one. His lyre playing was beautiful, but he didn’t seem interested in playing for crowds or as part of the background of a celebration. At wit’s end and the deadline for Apprenticeship fast approaching, she turned to some of her pals who were dragon and wher riders over at High Reaches.
They were very kind to Orpheus, helping him slowly find interest in dragons and dragon riding. He didn’t seem as inclined to like whers but he still appreciated their mannerisms and their mindsets… Candidacy was the only thing he really showed any sort of interest in that could be capitalized on, and opted to be one once he was 16. He chose to move there when it was confirmed he did indeed have it in him to be chosen by at least a couple of the dragons at home. He loved his mother, but he wished to try and be more independent, and perhaps have a greater window to Impress...
While his mother still worries that he won’t amount to anything, Orpheus found peace in just learning to handle dragons. Anything to help keep him occupied and moving forward.
