Zoht is in no way the tallest man on Pern. He's below average, scrappy, and not particularly muscular. He is plenty strong, more lean and wiry in his frame than much else. He tries to manage his hair but it frequently falls in his eyes, or covers his ears. His skin is dark, and his eyes are bright. He dresses somewhat plainly, focusing more on clothes that are required for the job than anything fancy. He does his best to keep clean after a day of work. He is incapable of growing facial hair.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Zohtto, nickname Zoht, is a young man who desires to break out from under his older brother's shadow. Back in his hold, that was impossible. Being at the Weyr is freeing for him, but that desire to prove himself (to the point of reckless actions) is deeply rooted in his core. He finds it's overall easy to get along with people, sometimes. There's a stubborn streak to him a mile wide, and sometimes the best sign that he's a friend is that he argues with his companion. It would be foolish to describe the action as mean-spirited, though to outsiders it tends to look like he's just spiteful and looking for a reason to argue all the time.
A hardworker to the core, Zoht has a hard time with managing what is on his plate. He takes on too much, flounders, and burns out. It's something he needs help with. He wants to just be someone who is regarded by his own deeds, even if the rest of Pern doesn't even know who he is or who his brother was. Deep down, however, Zoht does want to settle down with someone. Preferably someone taller than him. And handsome. Someone strong. Okay, he may have a little romantic streak to him. He is terrible at expressing it.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Zoenot (Mother), Eliht (Father), Zohtir of Green Bentbanth (older brother, deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None yet
BIRTHPLACE: a small cothold beholden to High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY:
TW: neglect, sibling death
Zohtto was born on a rainy morning in spring, the second child of Zoenot and Eliht. His mother was a proud, forceful woman, and he grew up under the impression that he and Zohtir were going to end up waiting on her hand and foot for the rest of their life. Despite everything he did, it was hard for him to actually get validation and affection from his mother, as the woman only seemed to be concerned with having a daughter one day, and her sons weren't good enough. His father, Eliht, simply went along with the woman, not wishing to rock the boat. Zohtto was very close to his older brother, following the young man around as much as he could, trying to be just like him.
Zohtto was young when Zohtir was Searched, unaware of the war raging outside their tiny hold. While Zohtto was proud, their mother showed no such pride towards her eldest child. Zohtir visited once after impression and graduation, introducing Bentbanth to his younger brother. Zohtto was in awe, and was unaware that it would be the last time he would see his brother at the age of 6. Zohtir and Bentbanth were killed in one of the final conflicts of the Interval War.
He took it very hard, and Zohtir's shadow seemed to hang over them in the little cothold.
"When are you going to get Searched?"
"You'll go on to the Weyr like him, won't you?"
Zoht was unable to escape the comments, compounded by his mother's lack of care for the loss, for turns. It wore him down, and he lashed out over and over at people around him. The outside world went by, and the cothold still spoke of the riders who came and went. Slowly, the people forgot about Zohtir. Even Zoht's mother refused to acknowledge she even had an older son.
It was at 25, when Zoht had given up on many things, that a rider came. Zoht, to his disbelief, was Searched. He did not say goodbye to his parents, and left as soon as he was able.
