Sheridan stands at average height with a slender build and medium brown skin. She's not particularly muscled, but has the strength needed to get her tasks done. Despite the roundness of her face that emphasizes her youth, Sheridan often wears a somber or serious expression. Her is kept long and in numerous small braids, which she ties together in a bun or with a scarf to keep out of her face while working.
When it comes to apparel, during working hours, she is all business, wearing practical clothing suited to the task at hand. During her off hours, she wears more casual garments, and is fond of bright colors and fun patterns. She keeps her appearance clean and presentable, though some of her work clothes sport stubborn stains she cannot get out.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Sheridan is intelligent, ambitious, and incredibly impatient. She can adapt to change quickly, and often welcomes it, especially if she thinks it will make things more efficient or better for the parties involved. That said, she can sometimes be too quick to change, as she seldom thinks about the consequences of her actions. She often thinks that her way of doing things is best, and will go ahead and do it, even if she is given explicit instructions to do it a different way.
She is also ambitious and wants to be a leader someday. She does work well with others and can be good at helping others with their tasks, but she still has a tendency to just do work for others instead of delegating properly. She often spreads herself too thin, taking on much more work than she can actually handle. Communication is big with her, and she is not afraid to talk back to leadership if she thinks something is awry or if she thinks her way of doing things is better. She will absolutely stand up for what she believes in and can be incredibly stubborn when it comes to arguments. She is annoyingly persistent about doing things in the way she thinks is best and is unafraid to bother the teachers and Candidatemaster to try and have her ideas implemented.
Despite her qualities for leadership, she is often undermined by her own impatience. She wants a dragon and a wing leader position yesterday, so she will do everything she can to prove she's ready and the most qualified, regardless of whether there's eggs on the sands.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Sherman, Father - Weyrfolk
Aidan, Mother - Greenrider (Deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY:
TW: Death mention
Sheridan was born to her parents, her mother Aidan, a greenrider, her father Sherman, a member of the weyrfolk. When she was only 3 turns old, her mother tragically passed away during Threadfall, and her dragon went Between forever. Sheridan does not remember her mother at all, though she has been told many stories about her by her father.
She was raised primarily by her father, though she spent plenty of time in the creche when he was busy with duties around the weyr. The time in the creche helped Sheridan develop good social skills with her peers, but even at a young age, she was ambitious. Anytime it came to group learning or activities, she pushed to be in charge, and often ignored instructions if she thought of a "better" way to do tasks. She liked being the leader and feeling important. She also would often just do tasks for the other children if they were struggling or uninterested in doing it themselves. Despite countless scoldings from the crecheworkers to focus on her own work, she never grew out of the habit.
As she grew up, Sheridan heard many tales of the brave riders of Pern, as all children in the creche do. This combined with the numerous stories of her mother that her father told her instilled a deep desire within her to pursue candidacy and one day become a rider herself. Sherman did his best to sway her, convince her to do less risky work, telling her it was completely fine, noble even, to work in the weyr to support the riders and handlers without facing dangers herself. She was adamant though and was ready to sign up for the candidacy at 14. She was told she still needed to wait a turn and came back the day she turned 15 to sign up.
Her candidacy has been relatively uneventful since she signed up, having not yet impressed. Her father is still very unsure about her plan, and secretly happy she hasn't impressed, and hopes she'll age out of candidacy and settle down. She is growing impatient but knows that surely the next clutch will be the one she impresses at. If that is truly the case remains to be seen.
