FULL APPEARANCE:
Noctis stands at the below-average height of 5' 9", and no, you may not call him short. Or use him as an armrest. His build is lean, but not devoid of musculature. Noctis sports lovely dark blue eyes, a trait he and his mother shared. His hair is black and as stubborn as a herdbeast, naturally spiky, but requiring attention daily, lest Noctis walk out the door with wicked bedhead. His facial expression seems to be held in a constant frown, for some unknown reason, except around his close friends. When it comes to clothing, Noctis pretty much dresses in what's laid out for him. He tends to wear his garments in black, and said garments tend to consist of simple pants, a shirt, and a jacket to go over, along with his usual boots.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
One of the first traits that can be discovered about Noctis is his laziness. If he had things his way, he wouldn't even leave his rooms. If possible, Noctis would sleep all day, every day. But he's gotta eat, so he deals. When vegetables make an appearance, he vehemently refuses to eat them, sticking to what he likes: sweets. Provide Noctis with a pastry, and he'll be much more willing to listen to whatever tune is being fifed. Don't, and suffer. Alas, sweets aren't common, so Noct treasures what he does get.
Noctis is stubborn as well. If he doesn't want to do something, he'll dig his feet in and refuse to budge. That said, Noctis isn't all bad. He understands he has some duties as the son of a Holder, and thus engages in whatever duties are placed in front of him, though not without the mandatory grumbles and bitter complaints. He has a weak spot other than sweet things, however: fishing. Ever since he was a child, Noctis has been in love with fishing, insisting to go to the river and watch the Fishercrafters work. He'd like to try fishing himself...someday.
Deep down, Noctis has an...odd affection for people. He wants to do his best to help others, but wants nothing to do with being a leader in any way, shape, or form, despite the tutoring he received from his Holder background. Thus, he's become closed off; untouchable except by those he loves and trusts. Distant and aloofly quiet, Noctis is comparable to a cat. A small, surly, grumpy cat who'd rather sleep all day. With no desire to lead, it would take time and a considerable amount of effort to groom Noctis for a position of leadership, as he's simply not suited for the role and has no interest as well.
All in all, Noctis can be a pain in the ass to deal with. He's slothful, doesn't enjoy working, stubborn over ridiculous matters, constantly trying to sleep ridiculous hours, and a picky eater to boot. However, under that exterior hides a decent man. With a desire to help others and a passion for fishing, Noctis could be what a world in trouble needs, given time to grow into a true leader...and a hell of a lot of patience.

Noctis was born to Regis and Aulea, beloved Holders of a minor High Reaches-beholden Hold. Sadly, Noctis never got to know his mother personally, as she died bearing him into the world. Regis never held it against his son, raising the boy as much as he could around his duties as Holder and the grooming of his older son Ranna. As a result, young Noctis grew up surrounded by a variety of caregivers, with his father watching over him from afar.
Being the second born to his father's first wife, Noctis wasn't truly brought up to take over the Hold in his father's stead one day. That was Ranna's job by right. Still, in the event of a tragedy, Regis provided tutoring to Noctis, though the younger son was allowed to...slack off more than Ranna. With Ranna getting most of the attention and doing most of the work, Noctis had solitude. He didn't mind being left alone; more time to sleep then.
Noctis additionally made a close friend, though one from quite an unexpected quarter. He kept seeing this blonde kid hanging around with some of the drudges, but the one time Noctis approached, the skittish blonde took off. Noctis didn't push further in his curiosity. However, he continued to see the blonde, often catching him watching from around corners and trees. It took many Turns for the blonde to finally work up the courage to approach, introducing himself as one Prompto. The two became fast friends, and Prompto's hung on tight ever since.
It was quite recently that Noctis was approached by a High Reaches rider for Candidacy. Surprised and unsure, Noctis turned to his loved ones for advice. He already knew Prompto's reaction, of course: loud jubilant cheering. His father looked on his younger son with pride and told him to go; that his home would still be standing if he ever wished to return. Ranna simply ruffled his little brother's hair and told him to buzz off. Fondly, of course.
Thus, young Noctis packed his things and headed for High Reaches Weyr.
