Galina
"And I know I may not look like much, just another screaming speck of dust.
But, oh God, you're gonna get it. You'll be sorry that you messed with us."

FULL APPEARANCE:
Galina's on the taller end of 8-year-old girls, standing at in at 4'5". She's scrawny from malnutrition but, with some time spent in the weyr and all that food at her disposal, she should fill out into her frame. She's a bit on the scruffy-looking side, and will probably never grow out of that. She'll be clean, yes, but a little ruffled-looking. It may have something to do with her choppy haircut-- short in the back with messy bangs and two long strands right in the front. But, she likes it.
She's never worn a skirt or dress and doesn't plan to start. Now with more clothes at her disposal, Galina sticks with overalls, boots, and a nice shirt. It's practical... and kinda comfy.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Galina had been blessed with an inability to care too hard. Not in a cruel way, no, but in a ‘welp, this is my life, better live it,’ kind of way. Don’t mistake her chillness for laziness, because she’s very very aware that hard work is required to survive. She’ll help out with chores and tasks because, in the wild? It’s work or die. Overall, she’s a bit of a tomboy and feels better displaying masculine traits than feminine ones. She’s a goofy kid, loving to chat and tell jokes. But, there’s nothing she loves more than getting to take a well-earned nap after a job well done.
Of course, upon arrival to the Weyr and the realization that no, not every child had to starve and suffer and freeze just to be given access to proper resources, she’s become a little angry and a lot bitter. She’s got an 8-year-old’s grasp of the situation, of course, but she’s old enough to be mad at her parents for having kids when they didn’t have all the tools to raise them. She may grow out of this as she ages and understands more, but right now she’s a ball of simmering rage waiting to blow. Until that boils over, she’ll act out and really put the ‘brat’ in weyrbrat.

BIRTHPLACE: Holdless Camp
HISTORY:
Galina was the 3rd of 4 children born to a holdless couple. She lived most of her life merely surviving from day to day, doing the chores that were required of her (and sometimes a little more), and having as much fun as she could with her siblings when living was a greater priority than existing. Life wasn't easy, but it with her family around, it wasn't too too bad.
Of course, the blight that struck the surrounding areas of High Reaches made life a bit worse, she couldn't deny. Going to bed hungry took a lot out of her, and she was often very tired from lack of nourishment. It was often hard to tell if Galina was laid back from being a generally calm person, or if she was just too exhausted to care. A bit of her energy came back after the blight came to an end, but she's always been a bit more on the tired side since. During the blight, though, more people joined in with her group. It was nice having more folks around to talk to, and she couldn't deny that having more people to split chores with was great. As time went on, she found herself enjoying these new people's company and couldn't imagine life without them around.
Then, even tragedy struck. A Winter storm nearly took the lives of her entire camp, with some members being worse off than others. Luckily, the people of High Reaches came and saved them, bringing them to the weyr to recuperate from their injuries. Now, Galina and the rest of the camp look as if they'll be staying at the Weyr for the foreseeable future. Which is great... if she wasn't mad that the first 8 years of her life were spent struggling every single day when she could've been at a weyr all along!
