Akai has a lithe, feminine figure that he tends to keep covered up in layers of clothes. He often wears reds and whites, with his sister remarking that he looks like a candy half of the time. He often keeps his red hair shoulder length, but has grown it out enough to have a slight ponytail at the back of his head. His hair is somewhat curly at the ends.

PERSONALITY:
Akai tends to be a reserved individual. He tends to remain quiet and often keeps to himself. Because of this, he did not have a lot of friends growing up. He tends to be very shy as a result and usually latches onto the people he has in his personal circle of friends. After all, they're his friends, right? He is also known to be a bit sassy in a playful manner with people he is comfortable with. He tends to try and project his own views on others, thinking he knows what's best for them. He also wants to make them treats as well, to show his appreciation to them.
He always believed he had to be perfect to be loved. He works hard to try and be perfect. This includes him feeling like he is supposed to impress a bronze, no matter what. Because of this, Akai feels immense pressure and tends to get nervous and snappy when he reaches his breaking point. He will also try to isolate himself when he feels he's about to break down, as he wants to give the impression that he's perfect and nothing is wrong.
He refuses to stop, though. If he did, he wouldn't be the ideal rider for his dad.

HISTORY:
Iaka was a trader, often traveling between weyrs and holds to sell his goods. While traveling to Ista Weyr, he met a beautiful woman and decided to spend an evening with her. This interaction resulted in a young boy being born between them. He never knew about his son, Akai, and just assumed that he was Mustacciuoli's son instead. After all, he looked so similar to the other's child, Shinku.
Mustacciuoli was a rather aggressive traditionalist, always bringing up how he thought bronzes were much better than blues and greens and that he would be disappointed in his children if they did impressed one of those colors. His words often influenced Akai, the other wanting to impress a bronze as well. There was a lot of pressure to the point Akai felt he HAD to impress a bronze or his father would be disappointed.
The two siblings shared a close bond, Shinku often being Akai's only friend. Akai entered candidacy after his sister and during a hatching, Shinku impressed to a blue dragon named Cinnimith. Akai was proud of her, but he would see their father's anger in his eyes. He refused to say he was proud of Shinku and often said she had disappointed him, even disowning her. This hurt Akai and brought more pressure onto him that he had to impress a bronze.
Shinku refused to acknowledge her father and told Akai she planned on going to another weyr when she graduated. She also encouraged Akai to go with her, as he was at ends with their father and she could tell he was feeling the pressure of what he expected of Akai.
As more and more time passed, Shinku eventually left and Akai stayed at the weyr. He hadn't impressed either of the two hatchings in the years that had passed and, in late fall of 2770, he transferred to Semaca Weyr to be with his sister.
And to put some distance between him and his father.
