FULL APPEARANCE:
O'dair is a very conventionally attractive man. He has an athletic swimmer's build from his teens that he's maintained over time, taking pride in keeping himself as fit as he can be. He has fair skin, short, fluffy red hair, and deep green eyes. His nose is slightly downturned, and overall his features fit very nicely upon his face. The corners of his mouth can often be found tilting upwards in a very smug-looking smirk.
You may be able to take a fisherman away from the shore, but you can't keep him away from his sweaters. O'dair can always be found wearing the sweaters Mags knitted for him, especially the lighter ones given Semaca's more sunny and tropical climate.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
O'dair is a man who seems to pride himself on his charm, his charisma, and his suave demeanor. Of course, this 'charmingness' and 'suaveness' can also be seen as an air of arrogance and self-obsession, as it truly is. He seeks out attention from others but is really aiming for the general adoration of the populous. He flirts with others without meaning it, as that is just his nature. He has a blatant disregard and general carelessness for others' romantic emotions- or, really, their emotions in general. To put it bluntly, O'dair presents himself as 2/3 of a himbo, dumb and hunky, sure, but not very nice.
His surface would display him as a careless asshole, but this persona is just a ruse disguising his true nature. He is a loyal, dutiful, and deeply caring man. Behind closed doors, O'dair is someone whose heart is full of genuine love and unwavering devotion to his family and his family only. He claims that shielding his heart from everyone else saves all of his love for the people that matter, but truly, he doesn't want to open it up to anyone else. They can forsk off for all he cares.
Even though his carefully calculate persona would give you the idea that he is just an airheaded ditz, O'dair has a sharp mind and a keener wit. He does his best to be a good father and is excellent with kids. When stressed, he tries to occupy himself by doing things with his hands. This often leads him to tie fishing knots over and over and over.
He has a very odd hobby. He loves collecting secrets. Do you want something done? Trade him a secret for it, and he'll do it. Do you want to know something? Trade him a secret, and you'll learn it. He finds them a better thing to trade than marks or favors because you get to know people better that way.

HISTORY:
Oladair was the only child of two fishermen at Ista Sea Hold. He lived an idyllic life and began helping out on the boats whenever his parents deemed him old enough- and the waters safe enough- for them all to go out and fish. Of course, things couldn't go that way for too long, though, as when he was just 11 turns old his mother and father died in a shipwreck. As unfortunate as it was, the void his parents left was rather quickly filled by the family friend who took him in, a lady by the name of Mags. Oladair took to the woman quickly, already having known her his whole life and seeing her as a second mother figure anyway.
The boy continued fishing, just on Mags' family's boats instead (and the ones closer to the shore at that). It was during this time that he met a girl named Cresta. She was friendly and all, but they were nothing more than that, friends. He did think it was nice to have her around though, and would rather have her around than not. But there was never a romantic connotation to those thoughts until turns later.
Luck would return to his favor at the age of 15 when he was searched and brought to Ista Weyr. Cresta was searched alongside him, and the two continued to bond over their newfound candidacy. It didn't take him very long to Impress as, at his first Hatching, Oladair found himself with a blue by the name of Ovisreth. He elided his name to O'dair and the rest was history.
Cresta had managed to impress to a green- Wayvth- the turn after, and the two began sharing the odd weyrling class together. Once graduated, a love began to creep on the blue- and greenrider, and after many turns putting their work fighting thread before their live, their relationship turned from platonic to romantic. Later still, they became weyrmates.
O'dair was 24 when his son, Estair, was born. He could not be happier and doted on him whenever he had a spare second to visit the creche- sometimes even creating spare seconds where he shouldn't just to pay him a visit. He and Cresta were inseparable, right down to what wing they were in. And, he kept in touch with Mags by letter, sending them as often as humanly possible. Of course, O'dair's luck with his family was never good from the start, and something bad would have to happen soon.
Mags was getting up there in age, the 78-turn-old's get-up-and-go having got-up-and-left. In a series of letters, O'dair convinced her to come to Ista Weyr with him so that he could help her if and when she needed any. Several turns later, at 28, a bad threadfall resulted in Cresta's Wayvth going between, leaving her dragonless. She instantly became a shell of herself. Between Mags' age and condition, Cresta's state, and wanting to be in his son's life, O'dair didn't want to spend a second on other people. He immediately built up a persona that he was sure others wouldn't like, that of a cocky, arrogant jerk, so that he wouldn't have to deal with others and could just focus on those he actually cared about.
Quickly, O'dair began thinking of other things he could do to make them happier. Heat was good for joints, wasn't it? Or something? Old people loved sitting around in the heat. And Cresta could use new scenery so she wasn't always thinking about Ista and Wayvth. And Estair was only 5, he hadn't made any concrete friends or anything and could definitely make some new ones... well, there it was. It was settled. Semaca would be a great place for a fresh start for the family. He transferred himself to Minuet wing and brought everyone along with him, hoping that things would begin to look up for the four of them.
