PLAY-BY: Jiang Cheng, Mo Dao Zu Shi
FULL APPEARANCE: Cheng isn’t a particularly large man, however, he boasts wide shoulders and a wide chest that give off the impression of more muscle than he actually has. That’s not to say he’s not muscular- he is in fact quite muscular, but he’s not nearly as chiseled beneath his robes as one might initially suspect. His waist is trim beneath the robes as well, though there’s still a definitive six pack that can be seen with the robes off. He has a scar on his chest from his candidacy, an accident during lessons having resulted in the superficial scarring.
Cheng prefers violets and blacks in his clothing, keeping it simple but elegant enough to make his origins and current occupation clear. He believes in showing people his worth through his appearance as much as his actions, and is rarely seen looking anything less than utterly impeccable in neat robes and a clean-cut appearance.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Snappish and rude when pressed, some might begin to wonder how A’cheng maintains a relatively clean reputation. Blunt to the point of brutality, he doesn’t often pull his punches when speaking, though he reserves a decent amount of respect for those who are senior to him in some way, or those he believes deserve his respect. He’s only vaguely tolerant of people he has to work with, and has no patience at all for those he considers to be simpering fools. Cheng is the type of person who’d sooner bite his own tongue off than admit affection towards anybody but his sister, and gets defensive when people suggest otherwise.
Despite this prickly nature, he does feel strong care towards his family, especially his older sister and his older cousin. His form of affection is shown mainly through banter in the case of Wei’ling, or fierce protectiveness in the case of his sister. This care is almost never directed at his parents at all, as they rarely interact and even more rarely have a proper conversation. He’ll forever deny any sort of affection that isn’t his sister or Quebeleth though, because he doesn’t want to reveal any weaknesses except his beloved sister. Even to her, he’s somewhat prickly, rarely letting her dote on him as she tries.
There’s a fierce sort of determination there, the kind that would see him willingly through the worst situations just to prove that he can take care of himself. When he gets an idea into his head, even Quebeleth may have difficulty dissuading him, his stubbornness reaching levels that just barely stop before making him completely disrespect authority. While he’s absolutely bullheaded about most things, he’d never allow himself to be embarrassed by disrespecting his seniors in any way, shape, or form, no matter his thoughts on them.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Fengmian (Father)
Ziyuan (Mother)
Yanli (Older Sister)
Wei’ling (Older Cousin)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold
HISTORY: Cheng was born in a minor hold, to the lord and lady of the place as the second child. Far from his parent’s favourite, and not the heir, he was mainly left to his own devices. Mainly taken care of by his older sister and slightly older cousin growing up, Cheng was a relatively calm child who spent his turns in leisure, if not luxury. He rarely had much work to do, beyond his own lessons and basic chores, and offering to help Yanli with her own chores or getting into trouble with Weiwuxling.
Somehow, he was considered to be the rational one of the group, and when they got into too much trouble he was often heavily scolded for “being better than this.” Perhaps he was calmer than Weiwuxling in these things, but he was far from an innocent victim in his cousin’s schemes, causing plenty of trouble with or without the other boy. (Though he was a bit wilder with Weiwuxling, of course.) Cheng was a lot more carefree back then, a child who was still willing to have fun whenever he could.
Things changed when he was searched for candidacy, the same day as Wei’ling, when they were both roughly 16. He’d never really thought about it before, but he jumped on the chance to potentially impress a dragon and maybe make his parents look at him for once. He was taken to the Weyr the searchrider had been from, Telgar, where he spent the next several years in candidacy. At one point during his candidacy he was involved in a relatively small training accident, resulting in ugly but superficial scarring on his chest. He’d gotten off relatively easy for the rest of the time, though. However, after a few years of no impression, Cheng grew impatient and instead moved to Fort Weyr, where he impressed to Quebeleth not long afterwards, the garnet having decided this was her human.
His weyrling years, without Weiwuxling there to spur him into causing trouble, were relatively tame. Cheng was able to learn much more diligently, becoming a model student almost overnight. These years weren’t difficult for him in terms of being able to do the coursework, though without people close to him nearby he became sullen and closed-off. He ended up rarely speaking without need unless it was to Quebeleth, and in the end graduated with his weyrling class. He spent a few years this way, Quebeleth a powerful dragon who quickly made herself into a useful beast in the combat wings of the Weyr. However, he’d been a little bit stir-crazy after these few years, and with input from Quebeleth and Lan’zhan, Weiwuxling’s ex roommate and crush, the whole group decided to transfer to Semaca Weyr.
Once he’d arrived in Semaca, Cheng was quickly scooped up for the Nocturne Wing, Quebeleth’s powerful build making the choice obvious as to where he’d go. Being back with his cousin made him happier, though he was still a very grumpy human being. He missed his sister, maybe one day their little circle would be able to visit her, or she would be able to visit them.
