FULL APPEARANCE:
Dew’s hair is cut in a chin-length bob style; and it practically glows a gorgeously vibrant orange-y red in the sun. It frames an open, expressive face bearing a straight nose, bright and intelligent eyes - one green, one blue - and Dew’s signature crooked grin. Her golden brown skin is tanned and heavily freckled all over from several hours of time spent outdoors. Her arms are muscular - she’s really strong! Capable of lifting a grown person with some semblance of ease - and at 5’5 tall, her lithe body is slender and otherwise of average proportions.
Dew is often found in lace-up leather vests (such as the dyed-green one she wears in her picture) with a light cotton or linen top underneath, and a pair of well-made shorts or skirts. Outfits that leave her arms - and sometimes her midriff - bare. Hot-weather clothing, essentially. On several occasions she can be seen confidently walking about barefoot, even though she does have her own pair of shoes!
She also has a well loved medium-sized stuffed toy in the shape of an runner, usually found propped up lovingly on her bed.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Dew is eager, and SO ready to work… In fact, ‘Work hard, Play hard!’ is almost practically her motto when it comes to that aspect of her life. She’ll play or work herself right to the bone, often until she finds herself injured (or end up crashing and burning, sometimes rather spectacularly). Despite this, she has managed to become remarkably efficient in what she does.
Outgoing and friendly, she often makes ‘fingerguns’ at every passing person she happens to fancy, complete with a saucy wink or two and that famed crooked grin of hers. She’d definitely make the first move. Dew’s a bold one! Loves to give nicknames to people and creatures alike. Dew enjoys spending lots of time outdoors in the sun - she is very energetic! Thinks all dragonkin is super cool, hence her decision to enter dual Candidacy…
She is extremely DIRECT with her words. Thinks someone might like her? She’ll just ask them point blank. There’s no beating around the bush with her - why bother trying to be vague, when Dew will just ask (or tell) you? This is a gal who will definitely say exactly what she thinks. No matter what.
Dew tends to act first and think second. A bit hot-headed and extremely impulsive, she’ll often leap straight into Situations without properly thinking it through… Examples include (but aren’t limited to) actions such as saying the wrong thing without thinking, talking back to authority if she doesn’t agree with something, jumping into a fight to aid/lend her strength to someone in need (or starting said fight, when provoked), or marching right into a cave without double-checking for danger, etc. She even has the audacity to stow away onto a ship! Will willingly ‘bend’ the rules a little bit occasionally. Dew lives ‘in the moment’, which does sometimes make it trickier for her to foresee the consequences, if she even recognises that there’s any beforehand, of her actions or words. Such an adventurous little lady..
She is otherwise intelligent; Dew has enough book smarts (and skills) to try and do her best to be as useful as possible in whatever area she’s working in. And just enough of her mother’s ‘people-smarts’ to recognise when she’s in deep hot water, well after the fact, and thus attempt to back-pedal herself back into some peoples’ good graces. Usually the people she likes/trusts. Yet she won’t budge from her principles, which means sometimes you’ll find her staunchly standing by whatever she’s said/stubbornly not admitting she’s in the wrong for the longest time. Which will definitely land Dew into even deeper hot water at least half of the time... Lol.
HISTORY

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: none atm, open
BIRTHPLACE: somewhere in Ista
HISTORY:
TW: extremely brief mention of plague (just the word, really)
Born and raised in Ista, Dew as a child was nearly as wild as her homeland.
Relevantly oblivious to the world beyond Ista’s sea-girdled shores, she grew up constantly roaming the lands around her family’s home. At age 6, Thread returned… and all of a sudden she started hearing more stories than she thought was usual about all the dragonriders and their amazing dragons protecting the entirety of Pern from that awful silver rain. Coincidence? She thought not! The youngster did not actually consider until much much later in her life that maybe these extra tales were actually only new parts of the Teaching Ballads and Harper lessons that she hadn’t yet learnt, and had nothing to do with Thread’s sudden return. Well, maybe it DID have something to do with that, but still… Dew continued to grow, still blissfully unconcerned with the world outside of her own little sphere of life involving her family and friends.
Her teenage-hood was rife with fights and several incidents she’d gotten herself into, including the time she’d forayed into a too-small and somewhat unstable cave on a hunt for treasure, and gotten herself so stuck she’d had to be rescued by a passing wherhandler and their wher. Dew usually did manage to escape most of these situations more-or-less unscathed enough to tell the tale, though once her mother found out, she’d ended up being grounded for a few sevendays as an attempt to curtail Dew’s growing penchant for haring off on such dangerous adventures. Unfortunately for her well-meaning mother, it didn’t entirely cure her of her wild impulsive ways; Dew continued to find herself mired in various tangles, and then do her best to get herself out of them with varying degrees of success.
And so on it went, until plague struck Pern one summer.
Dew quickly began to take far more interest than she had before in the rest of the world at large. Working hard to help her fellow Istans through that horrendous summer, Dew eventually decides to take on a Beastcraft apprenticeship. It meant more time outdoors! Away from her mother’s nagging… (And then Dew realised she suddenly had an new passion... why hadn’t she started working with animals earlier?!) She soon discovered another plus: the gradual increase in her own physical strength. No longer would she be teased by the local beastmaster’s boys - Dew became determined to become even stronger (and better) than they were! Or at least, strong enough to give one the ultimate scare of his life by blithely picking him up as easily as lifting a young herdbeast. Well, something like that, anyway.
The following Turn, news came of the ‘summerlands’ - and later, the official recognition of Semaca Weyr as a Weyr in its own right, situated in such a strange land. Apparently they had an JUNGLE! One that grew right up to the sea, too.. Dew hadn’t heard of such a thing before - weren’t jungles supposed to give way to something else before getting to the sea? There had to be dunes and a beach, at least!
What was it like, though? She sometimes wondered in quiet moments. Semaca sounded like a cool name; how had they dreamt it up? Sounded fancier than plain ol’ Fort, or Ista, for instance.. She was soon distracted from her pondering one day, however, when an Istan rider came by on Search business, and almost immediately extended her the invitation to Stand as a candidate. Dew gleefully accepted, her wide eyes almost goggling out at the sight of his dragon, and so she found herself in Candidacy at Ista Weyr.
A few Turns passed by, and clutches came and went, until a call was sent out from Semaca asking for some more volunteers for their Weyr. Dew suddenly remembered hearing of Semaca, and impulsively decided that she wanted to help out down there. Never mind that they’d want to pick up more crafters and weyrfolk first to help run the understaffed Weyr; one way or another the young candidate wanted to transfer there. And besides, she had some handy skills too, right? She could be useful! And maybe she’d have better luck finding a partner in a dragon or wher there… who knows? Semaca was supposedly the land of opportunity, after all.
So Dew applied for transfer. And while waiting for the paperwork to be completed and accepted, grew antsy enough to consider stowing away aboard a ship - paperwork or no, - and just GO. She’d even packed up all her things in preparation to leave! Fortunately for all parties involved, the transfer paperwork finally went through; and Dew was at last allowed to officially request a ride between to her destination. She did not waste time - immediately grabbing all her packed possessions and practically flying out of her room in the candidate barracks like a human whirlwind - as she eagerly rushed forth to the nearest off-duty dragon-pair.
Upon arrival, Dew immediately fell in love with Semaca. The heat, the jungle, everything! So similar to Ista, and yet, so different!
Vowing under her breath that she would do everything in her power to aid her new Weyr - despite being only an candidate at this point - Dew thanked the dragonpair, and staunchly marched off into her new life.
UPDATES
- UPDATE with any significant events Dew has had over the Turns since arriving in Semaca.. (ie touchings, hatchings, relevant plot points, etc etc)
- at some point she gained a lovely yet exceedingly cautious gold flit she named Moon (aka Nervous Nellie as a random nickname hahahah)
- also, one of the clutches was a green weyrling clutch. Which was real fun—a thought all of Semaca probably thought sarcastically, in between pained winces the whole time—because said green clutchmother was constantly screeching about something or another, no matter what! All 3 of her eggs hatch and Impress safely, though. Also, one of the babies was an unique!! - THE SPOTTY ATTACKKKK (season & Turn) - in which Dew unthinkably runs straight into the danger, then belatedly realises this one isn’t a fight she can win, and THEN starts trying to help 2 of her fellow candidates—one of whom is her roommate at the time. The 3 of them gets rescued by a bronzerider (name & squad spellings here.); most of the Semacans somehow manage to survive/come out the other side of this terrifying event alive at least. Phew! Dew also now has a very healthy amount of awe and respect for all the survivors of past spotty-related attacks/all the brave people who has at least once faced down a spotty and survived to tell the tale..
- some time later after that spotty thing: the BIGGEST gold clutch since, like, forever! There’s TWENTY EGGS!! There is a Touching, eventually. And then the Hatching of said clutch, in which Dew IMPRESSES garnet Freth!! Woooo!!! (Links and other important info to add here). Also, all the baby dragonets in this class hatch with somewhat weird aspects of their appearances??? Like weirdly shaped heads, etc; there was even a hatchling born with a pair of actual HORNS growing out of their head! But Dew totally thinks her garnet baby is PERFECT as she is, no matter how delicately-built (or snobby!) Freth seems.. : D
