FULL APPEARANCE:
L'ux is a very pretty lady, or at least, she does everything in her power to look pretty. Her makeup skills are undeniable, and you'd be hard-pressed to see her without a bold red lip. Her skin is tan with warm undertones, and her hair and eyes are almost the same shade of dark brown. She keeps her hair in a short bob, strands falling just below her ears. Her bangs are always neat and well-trimmed, covering her forehead and eyebrows. Her eyes are very expressive, so she doesn't mind her bangs covering them.
She opts for clothes that cover her entire body, even in the heat of Semaca. Long-sleeved blouses or collared shirts, dresses, pants, long skirts, the whole nine yards. They're always form-fitting though, she's not one for the more poofy look. She dresses like this to hide all of her Thread burn scars, of which she has many up her arms and legs from just being in the wrong spot in the air at the wrong time.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
L'ux is a consequentialist. Whatever she does, she does with the intent that there will be a good ending... for her. The ends will always justify the means for her. That usually means that when she makes a decision, no one can stop her from following it through to the end. She can get a bit impatient, though, and may speed through her own decisions to get to the good part quicker. Thanks to her parents, L'ux is quite a strategic and hard worker. Her strong will will carry her through to the end of any job, regardless of how stressful. In fact, she thinks that she works better under stress than in any sort of peaceful situation. It helps her focus and perform better. She prides herself on being efficient with her work.
Energy is in large supply with L'ux, she's one of those folks who can get just a few hours of sleep and function just as well as if she had passed out for 12 hours. She's confident in all aspects of her personality, her charisma, her creativity... sometimes (99% of the time) to the point of arrogance. If you take offense to her, she'll just blame it on you not having as high self-esteem as her. Obviously, if your self-esteem wasn't so low, you wouldn't feel offended or threatened, right? Her arrogance leads her to think that she deserves a lot, and so she can be overindulgent.
She handles her own emotions poorly and handles others' even worse. She's entirely intolerant of other people and what they want, putting herself above all others. To say she's arrogant would be an understatement. Once she gets angry, she shuts off and becomes cold, mean, and rude. But, if she doesn't get the chance to calm down, her emotions will start to run hot, and you can expect her temper to explode soon after. She tends to want to dominate- not lead- whatever situation she's in, whether that stems from her deep-rooted fear of being controlled or her own arrogance she has yet to care to figure out.
Flirtatiousness is probably one of the key facets of her personality. She loves to love- well, it really isn't love with L'ux, per say... she just likes to flirt and be flirted with. If it goes anywhere else, well! How convenient. However, since she's not very caring when it comes to others' emotions, combined with her being a bit of a liar, she's both a maneater and a womanizer when it comes to relationships.
Ever since she left her Half-Circle Sea Hold, L'ux cannot handle being near large bodies of water for too long, and she cannot stand being cold. Both stem from her nearly drowning and then being put to work at sea. She much prefers being on land (or in the air) in hotter climates.
HISTORY

- Sevara (younger sister, alive) [-7]
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Half-Circle Sea Hold
HISTORY: [TW near-drowning, dragon hatching violence]
Laroux had a very blissful life for the first 7 turns of her life. An only child to two well-off fishermen at Half-Circle Sea Hold, she held all their attention and enjoyed being doted and fawned over. Whatever she wanted, within reason of course, she got. Then her younger sister, Sevara, was born and everything began to change rather quickly.
To say that Laroux hated Sevara would be an understatement. Who did she think she was, being born and taking away all of Laroux's undivided attention? Now she had to share, and Laroux was NOT good at sharing. She began acting out in order to get more attention, pressing buttons, telling lies, the whole nine yards. At some point, her parents just got so fed up with her poor attitude that they sent her to work out on the boats a turn or so earlier than she should've been so that she'd have to work and not bother anybody.
Of course, that didn't work too well. She just acted out more, just at sea. Unfortunately, she'd get some karmic retribution for all the hell she was putting her parents- and anyone who got caught in the crossfire- through. Mid-storm, Laroux started goofing off on the edge of the boat. Her mother told her to get down, but, of course, Laroux didn't listen. One large and Laroux went overboard, scrambling to stay above the freezing rocky waters.
She woke up back on board, coughing up cold salt water. Her father jumped into the water and saved her, but it took him a while to get to her and she had passed out. The second they knew she was alright, she got in trouble. Major trouble. Her parents knew that she had been acting up, so it was her own fault that she nearly died. She needed to grow up and learn that not everyone would pay attention to her, and that a good work ethic could potentially fix her issues. So, she work on the boats for the rest of her life, no social life, no nothing until she'd grown up.
Laroux closed off from her parents entirely, thinking her punishment was totally unjustified. But, she did her work, and she did it well- hell, what else could she do but a job well done? Plus, she was terrified to do anything to act out on a ship again, seeing as how the last time she'd done it she went and nearly drowned.
She was miserable, for lack of better words. Nothing changed, she was bored, she was sad, and she had no one to really talk to but the other fishermen. Luckily for her, everything changed when she turned 20. A searchrider pair from Igen came and thought she'd make for a good candidate. What was she going to do, not go with them? Not a chance. She hopped on the back of that blue and left the second she had finished packing a little bag.
Igen was nice, she liked how warm it was. She couldn't stand the cold anymore, made her think of the ocean. Her parents' want for her to develop a strong work ethic payed off, as she did all of her candidate chores the second she woke up before doing anything to relax... but, unfortunately for her parents, they'd never hear from their eldest again. Laroux ceased all communication with them the second she stepped food in the Weyr, citing her 'unjust punishment' as the reason why. She opened back up to the world, but only to some degree.
Her time at Igen was short, however, as she went to Semaca for the Sols clutch with the gold transfer program. She had tripped into the Sands when she got there, leaving her snow-white candidacy robes a sandy-mess. Of course, the first dragon to hatch was hers, the most beautiful garnet she'd ever seen... okay, maybe that was because she was her's, but that was not the point. Her Ambraliath was stunning, and cared about her clothes, and- oh, bit into the arm of the person who touched her wing. What an introduction! Shame for the other girl, but... hey, she said not to touch her dragon. What could you expect from a baby who just burst into the world and didn't want to be touched? The rest of that Hatching was just as eventful, but Laroux didn't exactly care.
Laroux elided to L'ux, and enjoyed her time in weyrlinghood. She went through it without much of an issue, joining up with the Nocturne wing upon graduation. She prided herself on being good at her job, if not a little reckless. Okay, maybe a tad more than a little reckless. She was burnt by Thread on more than one occasion, scarring her arms and legs to no end. But, despite that, you could always count on her to get the job done.
She barely lifted a finger during the rebuilding of Semaca post-storm, and has remained perfectly ambivalent to the pirates and the emerging threat of intelligent spotties. Why should she care? It's not like L'ux is in charge, or that her wing handles those. The council has to deal with the pirates, and the Weyr Guard, Requiem, and Pavane have to deal with the spotties. Not her issue at all. The most she's interacted with the pirates outside of passing was buying a flit egg off of them one day when she was bored.
