K'mina is just a bit a taller than average man. His body is well toned, but not overly muscled. His skin is tanned from consistent sun exposure. He has a large burn scar on his chest from a past Threadfall.

K'mina has a conventionally attractive face, with particularly long eyelashes. He keeps his hair mid length on the top, and trimmed short along the back and sides. His hair is perpetually messy, as if he just rolled out of bed.

In terms of fashion, K'mina prefers flashy clothing that draws attention to himself. He especially enjoys flame motifs, and will seek out bright and bold colors and patterns to wear.

K'mina is a brash and impulsive man whose voice is as loud as his clothing. Absolutely an "act first, address the consequences later" kind of person. He's a braggart and walks about oozing swagger. K'mina is great at improvising when things go awry, but isn't the best at listening to orders, especially if he doesn't agree with them.

He thrives as the center of attention and loves to perform for a crowd. He wears flashy clothing to match his personality, and sometimes goes about without a shirt while handling non-dangerous tasks. He speaks his mind without thinking, though he's so stupid that thinking wouldn't help him much. Thinking and elaborate plans are better left to the older folks, K'mina takes the direct path in front of him to accomplish the task at hand.

K'mina is a perpetual hype man. He believes that everyone can reach great heights, and will often push others to be braver, bolder, better. Bossing people around and driving them to their limits comes naturally to him. Unfortunately he has a terrible sense of boundaries, and will continue to push unless he is explicitly told to stop multiple times. He's personable and friendly, and will go out of his way to talk to quiet folk to try and help them feel included.

Kamina was born to a pair of poor miners of Crom Hold. He was raised with the expectation that he too would grow up to be a miner, as was the family tradition. When he was 9, Kamina started to apprentice under his father, learning and assisting where he was forced to. It was dim and dull work that Kamina did not enjoy, but it was the expectation he would follow the family path.

When he was 10, he was introduced to Simon, a younger boy who was also to apprentice under Kamina's father. Kamina took a liking to the younger boy, and enjoyed having someone younger to boss around. Simon was shy, but dedicated to his work. Kamina took advantage of this, relying on Simon to help him with the more mental tasks associated with mining.

At age 11, Searchriders visited the hold while Kamina and Simon were running errands for Kamina's father, allowing the boys to see dragons up close for the first time. Where Simon was terrified, Kamina was enamored, and vowed that one day he would become a rider himself.

After seeing the dragons, Kamina was even less interested in the mine than he was before. He would often try to sneak off and shirk his duties to instead practice knots or play with stray firelizards. He would often drag Simon along with him, and both would be reprimanded and punished.

Kamina's father and both of Simon's parents passed away when Kamina was 13 in a mining accident. Kamina promised Simon that he would always take care of him, and the two became sworn brothers.

Finally, Kamina's day came. Shortly after he turned 16, Searchriders returned and he was selected as candidate material for Telgar Weyr. Kamina said his goodbyes to his mother and Simon, and promised the younger boy that he'd come back to visit as much as possible once he had a dragon on his own.

Kamina had a rough candidacy. He did well at the physical tasks, and was particularly focused with anything to do with dragons. The writing and classroom learning focused lessons did not stick as much. Despite this, he managed to squeak by and was eligible to stand for his first hatching at 18. He was left standing. He would stand for several hatchings, until he finally impressed to Garnet Gurrenth at age 21, and he was delighted at how flashy and beautiful she was.

Gurrenth turned out to be much more reserved and hesitant than Kamina, now K'mina, expected from her appearance, but the two developed a respect and devotion to each other. It took several turns for K'mina to learn just how far he could push Gurrenth without her having a mental breakdown. During the Threadfall of 2768, K'mina was pushing Gurrenth to fly higher and faster to burn more Thread than anyone else in their Wing. Gurrenth began yelling at K'mina to stop and to follow the plan from their Wingleader when both were severely burned by the Thread.

It took a long time for both to recover from their wounds, and both still bear the scars of the fight. Slowly they rebuilt their trust and communication back to the point of being a capable team. During this period, K'mina and Gurrenth were doing some practice flights to rebuild their strength when they stumbled upon a clutch of firelizard eggs on a beach. K'mina took an egg, and it ended up hatching into a gold, which he named Lagann.

Since then, K'mina has been better about not pushing Gurrenth so hard. Other riders, not so much. In the years since, he has proven time and time again that he is terrible at listening to orders, so his superiors decided to transfer him to Semaca in 2775 to get him as far away as possible. K'mina welcomed the transfer, hoping the untamed wilds of the southern continent would be a better suited environment for him.

Gurrenth is an averaged sized garnet with particularly long wings for her size. Her body is several different hues of purple, ranging from violet to nearly black. She is dusted with white and gray freckles and splotches, similar to the night sky on a clear evening. She has a large scar on her back between her wings from a past Threadfall.

Gurrenth is shy and reserved, despite her flashy appearance. She often doubts her abilities, and K'mina needs to push her to fly higher and faster. She can handle only so much pushing from K'mina before she snaps and tells him to back off. Gurrenth's confidence has slowly grown, but she has difficulty speaking up for herself against anyone but K'mina.

Gurrenth is diligent and a hard worker, doing her best to keep K'mina on task. She is kind and caring, though many people do not see much of this side of her due to her quiet nature.

Lagann is every bit the show off K'mina is, and loves an audience. She enjoys displaying her deftness in the air, darting around, inverting, and even playfully dive-bombing onlookers. K'mina has taught her a few tricks that she will perform in exchange for a treat. , she likes to pair her flying with loud chirps and trills. She hates being alone, and is constantly near K'mina or Gurrenth, preferring to roost on their heads when she isn't flying.
