They have a smile that could light up a room, and Borealis really strides to present themself as someone who would be good to hug. (Spoiler: they are.)
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Borealis is friendly, sincere, and just overall really sweet. They're kindhearted, hard-working and love making friends. They have the energy of a kindergarten teacher who wanted kids but never got to have them and dotes on their students like they were their own kids. If they baby people a little, especially those younger than them, then that's on Borealis.
While they are kindhearted, they are also thickskinned. They follow the principle of do no harm and take no shards. They are kind first and foremost, but can get very authoritative with people who just don't listen- especially their patients. They need to listen to their healers, and if they don't? Why are you in the infirmary? While they like being nice, they genuinely don't care what other people think of them. It's not other people's business and Borealis just wants to live their life. They are not the best team player, and that's on Borealis as well. They just think that it is easier to get work done on their own because too many cooks in the kitchen can lead to chaos. They decline every offer of help from others, regardless if they need it or not.

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Journeyman Healer Sterling of Green Sterlisk (partner, alive) [57]
BIRTHPLACE: Ruatha Hold
HISTORY:
Borealis was an only child born to a couple at Ruatha hold. A daughter like any other, she did what chores were expected of her and played with the other kids at her hold. She greatly enjoyed looking after the younger kids- even though she was quite young herself. As she grew up, she wished for more do. Something else. Her urge to dote and look after turned into the urge to heal, and she left for Healer Hall to become an apprentice.
During her time at Healer Hall, she started questioning whether or not she was really a girl for the first time. It never really sat right, but she didn't really know what to do about it. She met a man, Sterling, who was also an apprentice at Healer Hall. The two fell in love pretty easily and began dating. Soon after their graduation, their transfer to Igen, and becoming weyrmates, they welcomed their first child.
Igen's neutrality during the war brought Borealis nothing but joy. They had no want to tend to wartime wounded, the amount of mental scarring that would have put on her... she didn't even want to think about it. She simply continued doing her job. Five more children came along, and she enjoyed her offtime visiting her children in the creche and being a mother whenever she could.
As time passed she realized that she, in fact, was not a woman. But, she also wasn't a man. She was somewhere in the middle, but also not at all? It was complicated. The term 'non-binary' came up and she adopted that pretty quickly, switching her pronouns from she/her to they/them and feeling a sense of completeness that they hadn't for many years. It was quite funny to them when their husband came out as non-binary not long after.
As a 'bonding activity', and out of service to their Weyr, the two bought wher eggs for each other when the traders and their caravans came along. Borealis found themself with a BIG but very sweet blue wher, while Sterling found theself with a green. Post wherlinghood and a bit of wherhandling, the couple lost their love of Igen, and transferred to Semaca. They needed healers! They were happy to help out.
Borealis believes that there should be regulations on the pirates- what they can and cannot do- and they have opinions on the stability of the weyr, how it is built, the wall, protections against flooding. But, they're not of the craft that builds, so they know their opinions may not be backed up with things or actually be feasable. They keep quiet on them, and have no intentions of sharing them with anyone other than their weyrmate.
