HEIGHT AND BUILD: 5'7"
FULL APPEARANCE:
Slightly diminutive in height compared to some, Saralia is pretty nonetheless, though not likely to immediately turn heads. Bright green eyes are often hidden behind strands of her dark auburn hair, which is usually kept tied back, occasionally in a simple braid, but windswept when it is not otherwise contained. A small nose is the slightest bit upturned at the end. She seems to not have any remarkable scars or obvious major flaws. There is a light freckling on her forearms with the occasional dot on each hand, and nails kept short.
Her build is average, without any remarkable strength inherent, and at times is seen as almost androgynous, as there's not much obvious curvature to her form.
Her skin is lightly tanned from time spent in the south, to a mild olive hue, but she can still be seen with sunburn, usually on the back of her neck or lower arms where her clothing doesn't always protect as well.
Usually her dress reflects the heat of the jungle in which she lives, relatively light unless flying Between, but wherhide reinforces the breeches where she sits astride her dragon, preventing chafing.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Generally a private person, Saralia isn't much to insert herself into an event unless asked, but she can certainly become the life of the party if needed. Prone to overindulging on wine, she has been known to engage in antics that she otherwise would not if she was sober, and can become extremely opinionated (and often flirty) when she is inebriated. On the lighter side, this can include breaking into song whether or not anybody has asked her to, but the hangover sleep can mean tardiness for duties, and the pounding headache when trying to heal can mean a symptom missed or a patient less tended than they should be. Though she has not indulged while on duty as of yet, the remnants of the night before can keep her from perfoming to her best. Despite her penchant for drink, she is generally kind and thoughtful, willing to help where she can and pull her weight, though she will make her distaste known for anyone who is slacking.
She's generally very fond of children and isn't as likely as some riders to send them packing when they show curiosity in her partner, though she's careful to assure that they show the proper respect to the dragon. She's occasionally offered rides to them when she's had time.
With her studies having largely focused on Healing, she's learned a great deal of patience and ability to focus despite crisis situations. Not to say she's incapable of panic, but she's able to hold it until after a bone is set or bleeding has been stemmed. She's always sure to be around for any Hatchings she can as healing can often come in handy around new and unbridled dragonets. She offers the same patience to the practically feral hatchlings as she does any other patient, though her focus is often on injured Candidates themselves in those situations.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother: Enara
Father Unknown
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Igen Weyr
HISTORY: Born to a Journeyman healer mother and an unknown (at least to her) dragonrider father, young Saralia often helped with gathering herbs and learning their uses, mentoring under her mother until she was officially apprenticed.
Having an ambition towards dragonhealing, she trained at the Weyr, starting with minor scores from Threadfall and various bumps and scrapes gained during drills or other dragon ventures, gaining skill to graduate to minor broken bones, torn claws, and some basic wingsail injuries.
When the chance came to stand as a Candidate, Saralia saw it as a chance to further gain an understanding of her patients as a dragon partner as well as healer, and facilitate communication. When Nahangyth chose her on the sands, she didn't expect to feel as if she had strayed into such a good dream. Having a dragon living with you to study anatomy on has done nothing but help her studies as a healer as well.
Past Weyrlinghood she has continued to learn dragonhealing alongside her regular duties, and transferred to Semaca Weyr a Turn and a half ago to lend those talents to the wings, though her duties make studying for a Journeyman's knot a grand task all its own. All the same, she's shown herself to be adept as a dragonhealer. She's also learned some first aid for the riders themselves, though she finds them to complain far more than the dragon patients. She's found the humid south to be a sweaty change to her native Igen, with an embarassing amount of perspiration sometimes calling attention to her adjustment to the climes, but with the new surroundings brings new chances to explore for healing herbs, and the dangers of gathering where Felines prowl.
