FULL APPEARANCE:
Usagi is an average height and slender young woman of her years. She has long blonde hair often worn in some form of updo and bright blue eyes framed by long lashes. Her body shape is around average for a woman, though she does have a few extra pounds around her stomach and backside due to her past pregnancy and a terrible sweetooth.
As she is not any more physically active than her job demands, she does not really have a lot of muscle on her frame and her face has a slightly rounded heart shape, with high cheekbones. If she is not giggling or laughing, she often has a very far off look in her eyes, like she is spacing out or daydreaming. Her clothing choice has a lot of pale pinks and some blues and browns in her riding leathers and she wears dresses and skirts whenever she has a chance, preferring them to pants.

PERSONALITY:
Usagi is first and foremost.. a cry baby. She will cry to get her way, she will cry if she taps against a door frame too hard.. she will cry if she drops something she is eating. A coward to the core, she only is brave when she absolutely has to be or she can not go hide elsewhere. Her emotions run to extremes and this can make her a handful to deal with.
Couple this with the fact that she is accident prone and it makes for a bit of a disaster for the poor souls she works alongside. She is also not the brightest glow in the sky and often things will sail right over her head and she will need to be shown things multiple times before they tend to stick in her brain.. if at all.
Despite all of this, she is a very kind and loving woman, cares deeply for friends, wing mates and dragons alike and enjoys bringing smiles to the faces of others. She is also very trusting and believes in the best of everyone and that all deserve seconds chances, even if its someone that may not deserve such consideration. Her trusting nature can lead her to be easily deceived or manipulated and this can lead to some less than.. ideal scenarios.
She also very much enjoys making friends and is quite the social butterfly, having no shyness about approaching new people and introducing herself and her dragon. After all, you never know if your true love could be out there right?

HISTORY:
Usagi was born to simple weyrfolk crafters in Igen weyr, the first of their two children. Vibrant, energetic and easy going, her early years were uneventful, her parents doing the best to make sure their child wanted for nothing. When she was eight years old, her parents brought her brother into the world and while they did not always get along in later years, Usagi was thrilled to be a big sister. Her mother and father had decided after this son to have no more children and that was fine with their eldest. She never was one that liked the idea of having to compete with more than one sibling for her parents love.
From an early age, she had watched the dragon riders coming and going and while she had no interest in being a rider, that was too scary, she did love their magnificent bonded. But the stars never seemed to align for her to specialize in anything like her parents so while she admired dragons from afar and watching hatchings, she was mostly working in the kitchens, cooking or scrubbing pots and kitchen linens. For one of her birthdays, her parents gifted her a tiny black kitten that she named Luna, because she loved the moon in a clear night sky. Not long before her 20th birthday, her parents heard of efforts to build up Semaca and decided to lend their efforts and Usagi decided perhaps she might have a place there as well, for there would be riders and that meant dragons right?
Not long after the family got settled in, there was a commotion about an egg being left overnight. This was the first time she had been able to make it to a hatching since the family had settled in and she was rather excited as always.. dragons were such lovely creatures. So when it came time for the egg to hatch, she took her place in the stands, watching intently.
Watching the poor dragon struggling to get out, she bit back a soft cry and tears formed in her eyes as she willed the tiny life inside to push its way out, and was relieved when the nose broke through and soon a paw. But then the baby was crying out and wiggling with what must have been all its strength before the beautiful blue tumbled out on the sand. Laying there for several seconds, Usagi was not aware of the breath she was holding until he stood up and fell back against adult dragon that was sitting with the egg.
He looked confused and a soft sound of worry that came from him tore through her heart and she wanted to go and embrace the little one but knew obviously why she could not. Watching him bury his head against the larger dragon's leg, his voice filled the air.. no.. her voice. It was a female blue!
"Usagi, please come to me. I'm so tired and so hungry."
Wait.. what? Did this baby just call to her?! Yes.. there was no mistaking it. She was confused.. she was not a candidate! But yet.. the baby had chosen and she knew what would happen with rejection and rose from her place and grabbed the feeding bucket, as she had watched enough hatchings at this point to remember some of the protocol and made her way over the heated sands to the baby dragon.
To little Talinth... her Talinth. This was not how she had expected her day to go at all. She gently gathered the baby onto her lap, locking eyes for a moment and watching the swirls of color in them... she was a weyrling now, like it or not. Knowing the baby was already tired and very hungry she did not hesitate any longer and fed her. She was also being careful to keep her positioned so that she did not choke while feeding as well.
Tears fell from her eyes, dropping on the hide of her newly bonded and sparkling like little diamonds. She was sure the candidates gathered here were probably disappointed but right now, nothing mattered but this tiny life on her lap. " Talinth.. her name is Talinth." She shared to those around her and once the baby finished eating and was dozing against her, she stood and quietly walked off the sands. Knowing she was leaving her old life behind her to enter this unexpected Weyrlinghood, she was not as distressed as she thought she might be, as this had to be fate right?
And who was she to deny fate its design. Lucky for her, the lessons she was learning with the classes and learning to fly, glide and everything else dragon related was almost like a dream come true that she never knew she needed. Even if the idea of flying so high did give her fits of fear at first. After graduation, she decided to join the Healer wing, as it seemed the natural choice, given her nurturing nature and desire to help people.
Settling into her new wing, life and getting to know her new squad was not too hard for her, as making friends was something she enjoyed very much. One such friend that stood out was Alayna of Gold Wyzeth. She was kind and welcoming to the newly graduated pair and in a delightful twist of fortune, it was revealed to her of Talinth's connection to her Wyzeth. But her life threw her another curve ball when she met a green rider named Mamoru and the pair had a fling and were very much in love.. or at least she was.
When his dragon rose, Talinth decided to chase her and the riders had an intimate encounter. Not long after the flight, both Mamoru and his dragon transferred out of Semaca and Usagi was devastated, feeling like her one love had abandoned her. Sorrow gave way to anger and she began to resent him for playing her like a fool but mostly anger at herself for believing he loved her. As with her surprise dragon impression, it seemed that fate was not done throwing her curveballs as she soon discovered she was pregnant. In a panic and scared, she was not sure she was ready for all of this. Stepping outside after she learned the news from the healers, Usagi was quietly sobbing. She had no idea what to do and the father was no where to be found. This was not how true love was supposed to be, first finding that one, bonding.. THEN a child. But now blind panic set in, what was she going to do?!
Talinth was trying to nuzzle her comfortingly but the dragon was not sure how to help her rider. Her crying had gotten the attention of another rider that was leaving and had a child with him. He had stared at her for a moment, sighed and walked off. A few minutes later, a woman approached her, offering a greeting, a bit awkwardly it seemed. As she was not really thinking clearly, she ended up hugging the woman and spilling her current situation out to her.
The woman, who she found out was Varda of Brown Magmeth and she offered Usagi the solace and peace of mind she needed and explained her own experiences. As time went on, a foundation of a friendship formed and she found that she enjoyed the presence of the other woman in her life. Having someone that had went through all of this was more comfort than she knew she needed.
When her child was born, she struggled to come up with a name, as her own family did not use traditional naming conventions but she wanted to. Once again, Varda came through for her and she suggested Usaru. Usagi decided almost instantly it was perfect and while she gave her daughter to the creche to raise, she was there every moment she could spare and took care of her daughter as much as she was able. She is however conflicted still on if she ever wants to open her heart to someone again. Only time will tell.
