FULL APPEARANCE: Pale-skinned, red-haired, and green-eyed, with a direct, challenging stare, Mara is hard to miss. While she doesn't exactly hate it, it makes her more easily recognizable, which can be inconvenient. It doesn't help that she's ripped, with abs and limbs of steel, though still well-proportioned and flexible. She has a penchant for black, utilitarian clothing that makes working and fighting easier. One of her most common disguises is simply coloring her hair black with plant dye and keeping her head down.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Mara is terrifyingly competent, with a wide array of skills in a variety of disciplines. She was raised to fight, she can haggle herself a great deal at a Gather, she can even sing passably. Above all, her greatest skill is blending in; she's a terrific actress, quickly picking up the accents and mannerisms of those around her. Outwardly, she's unruffled by most setbacks, keeping her head when confronted with obstacles to her plans. She prepares for nearly every eventuality, making sure that no matter what situation she's in, she can drop everything and start again if necessary.

Mara's restless, happiest when seeking a fight or a challenge. She wants power and material wealth and is unafraid to work to get and keep them. All her life, she's been unknowingly searching for a greater purpose in life, and she thinks she'll finally find the completion she's looking for in a life-bond. Not that she'd ever admit this to anyone. She's slow to trust and quick to anger; her outward loyalties seem to change rapidly, though her internal ones are difficult to break.

Underneath all of this, Mara is genuinely a compassionate, caring person. She's rarely outwardly affectionate, but she will go to great lengths to protect those she loves. Surprisingly to most who just see her alternate between coolness and rage, she has a dry, deadpan sense of humor.

HISTORY: Mara was raised in a group of guards in Fort Hold, who taught her the art of fighting from an early age. When it became clear that she might have a talent for more clandestine activities, she was taught the art of espionage as well. She followed in the footsteps of the older guards, watching and learning. Briefly, she considered a career as a Harper so she could influence politics to some degree without being Blooded, apprenticing for a short time to Fort's Master. Soon enough, she found that professional music was definitely not her thing.

Her skills were put to the test when Evander came to power. Mara smelled trouble straight away and talked a trader caravan into taking her on, fleeing Fort as a precautionary measure. This caravan didn't exactly have the most savory business practices, and she got a lot of practice in disguise and blending into situations. Over the next few Turns the caravan made its long way to High Reaches, and there Mara was Searched.

Mara was sorry to leave her friends, but figured that a life-bond had its advantages. It was an automatic way to gain power, and High Reaches had opportunities for every dragonrider and wherhandler if one just knew where to look. And besides...it seemed fun.

• Winter 2764 - Mara gets a wher egg from an old trading partner to seal a debt, bonds gold Marsk.
• Spring 2765 - Finding a bronze firelizard while bathing, Mara is persuaded to adopt it by Marsk and names it Talon.
• Spring 2765 - A green wherlet finds her in the Stands, and Mara becomes a double wherling. She's kind of accepted that she won't have sex for a good, long while.
• Winter? 2766 - Mara graduates and finds a hopeful match in the new wherlingmaster Attiless.

FULL APPEARANCE: Marsk is a somewhat peculiar-looking wher. Her front and back halves would look fine if they were each complete on a different wher, but the stark contrast between them makes this gold stand out. Her front half is a true yellow-gold, uniformly rich and deep. Just after her wing joints, this switches abruptly to a creamy, almost white-gold. The backs of her wings are a darker, more greenish-gold than her front half, and her rear right foreleg is the same yellow-gold as her front half, making her appear slightly lopsided in both the transverse and sagittal directions.

Marsk is almost at the maximum length for a gold wher, and she’s short for her length, though still at the gold average for height. Her build is unremarkable for a wher, strong and sturdy. She’ll be mostly good at endurance once she’s grown, though she’ll be capable of surprising bursts of speed.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Marsk is calm, in sharp contrast to her handler. Not docile, though; anyone who thinks she’s docile will soon realize just how big a mistake they’ve made. She just sees little need to waste effort getting overly emotional at the small things when there are things to do, people to see, and places to explore instead. Curious and optimistic, she acts as a foil to her more businesslike handler, often getting distracted by shiny things or the peculiar behavior of humans. She prefers seeing the best in people and is trusting to a fault. She adores Mara, and most of her interactions with the woman consist of supporting her and trying to cheer her up. She’ll keep trying, no matter how long it takes.

That being said, when Marsk is pushed past her breaking point, she will not forsk around. She sees violence as a way to rid her life of annoyances and get back to pretty, shiny rocks and people. All she wants is for herself and her handler to be happy, why does anything have to get in the way of that? Obstructions must be removed as efficiently as possible.

FULL APPEARANCE: Not the largest green wher, but about the size of her twin, Marask looks like she's wrinkled prematurely. Or maybe she just always looks like that. With a sharp nose and an already gruff face, this wher is a sight to behold. She is a dark evergreen, the color of a forest in the noonday sun. Her wings and forefeet are a lighter, springy sort of green, and the same color spins ribbons down her tail and in a band on her chest. There are lighter, minty green marks over her eyebrows and chest, and big circles of the color on her hips.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Marask is a cult of personality when it comes to the world around her. Strong, certain, and set on getting what she wants, she knows how to organize and achieve whatever goals she sets her mind to. She often comes across as intimidating to those who do not know her well, due to the fact that she is forceful and forward with her wants and expressing herself. She is a wher that wants power - not for the sake of power, but because she is determined to show that any goal can be reached with perseverance and endurance.

While Marask is not always the kindest wher, she does mean well. She can be rude, snappish, and even dominating, but if she considers you under her wings or part of her family, she'll come hell or high water to protect and assist you. She has a soft spot for her handler, giving into their whims and coddling them, but this does not extend out to anyone else. She has a sharp tongue and a sharper mind, with the power to use thought and rationale to gain what she wants out of life.

Voice: Marask's voice sounds sharp and commanding, with a hint of bitterness to it at times.

FULL APPEARANCE: Talon's base color is a medium shade of greenish-bronze. Two other colors are found on his body: a lighter, whitish shade of the same color and a dark, saturated shade. The lighter shade forms a swirl over the front of his face and snout, while the dark, saturated shade forms bars over the tips of his wingsails. The dark bars are outlined by the lighter shade.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Talon tries. He really does. He just...doesn't succeed a lot of the time. He loves Marsk a lot, almost more than Mara, and is often found perching somewhere on the gold. He's rather wher-like in some aspects, relying on smell more than vision and disliking extremely bright places.
