FULL APPEARANCE:
Jafar isn't the most handsome man around, but he isn't that bad to look at. His mannerisms can put a person off though. He is snide and sarcastic, and has a "holier-than-thou" attitude.
He has tanned skin, as one can expect from an Igen native, with black hair and dark eyes. He is tall and thin, spindly even. Small hands, but long fingers that tend toward steepling in thought or twining in his beard.
He has a rather exorbitant manner of dress. He still favors the robes of his home Hold, and has many in multiple styles and colors.

Ambition. That is what drives Jafar more than anything else. A desire for power, a desire for superiority. He hates the idea of being second to anyone. He's a narcissist, to put it simply.
He can be quite haughty and arrogant to, well everyone, as he deems them less than himself. Really the only creatures that have any true affection from Jafar is his parrot Iago and his wher. They are the only two who have his confidence and his trust. Afarsk especially as he is an enabler of his ideas.
Oh, but he can turn on the charm if he so desires. He is not above debasing himself to higher powers if it will further his plans. He can simper and sooth his way into any hearts and minds, before whispering his gentle urging for how things should be.
He is fond of womanly flesh and the delights therein. Unfortunately his "appreciation" is a little crude and off putting thus he is rejected far more often than he likes to admit. He still harbors something akin to love for Jasmine, despite being rebuffed and rejected.
He is a bit of a chauvinist towards most women, seeing them as useless outside of things he would need them for. Women are best put to use taking care of their men folk and children in his opinion.

HISTORY:
Jafar was born in a minor Hold called Agrabah in Igen. His family was rather well off for most holders, as his father, Janar, was Hold Steward. He was taught all the things a Steward should know, as he was to follow in his father's footsteps and ascend to Steward after he did.
His sister Nasira was born a couple turns after he was. Honestly, he doesn't much care for her. She is useless in his eyes.
Honestly, the life in his small Hold was uneventful. The most interesting thing that happened to him was when he was around 16 and a Trader from Ista stayed in their hold overnight on his way to a trade fair in the main Igen Hold. He traded in Istan bird eggs, and Jafar bought one. The egg hatched into what would become a beautiful red bird. He named his pet Iago.
At 25, he took over his father's position as Steward. He was well trained and handled the day to day business of the hold. He decided the Hold could use more muscle, so a little over a turn later, he arranged purchase of a wher egg. This hatched into Green Afarask. When
The Holder of Agrabah had a daughter named Jasmine who Jafar fancied himself in love with. She wanted nothing to do with him. It was actually Afarsk who suggested he try to talk her father into agreeing to a marriage, but the Holder had no interest, citing an age and rank difference as reasoning. He wanted to fight to become the Holder, but when Jasmine found a suitor she liked, Jafar decided she wasn't worth his time anymore and moved on.
The Trader who sold him Iago turns ago still traveled through the area and with some negotiating, Jafar and Afarsk joined his crew as both an accountant and protection. Jafar wanted to learn more about the Pern outside of his hold and he deemed this the best way to do so. He soon learned more about the inner workings of the Weyrs and grew intrigued. Perhaps he could find power there.
After a few turns traveling with the traders, he decided Semeca sounded like a good place to try his hand. His turns of experience of Steward and then caravan guard made it easy for him to find a place at Semeca to start from. Now he needed to figure out the best way to find his fortune.
