Rider works hard to keep herself as fit as possible. Her hair is always kept short, and tied back when it can be, for convenience. She’s not used to a ‘cushy’ life, and is
She keeps herself looking presentable as she feels she ought to. She was raised to keep herself looking a certain way when she’s not out in the field. Her clothing is always kept clean and presentable, while not being too fancy.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
She’s a soldier wannabe, a little fighter who wants to protect those around her. Her whole life, she was raised to be a fighter. Not in the sense of a child soldier, but as a stout, active member of society. Someone who would take matters into her own hands, but still respect those who were her senior. She holds her head high, proud of her abilities and what she was taught, and uses it to help others around her.
Rider has no time for bullies, and has a strong sense of justice and compassion to those who are being victimized. However, she is prone to falling into the trap of ‘Following orders’, where she will forsake her own instincts to follow the orders of someone higher up in the ranks than she is. While there are times she can excuse herself for her lapse in judgment, there are also times when her inability to say no has made her deeply remorseful.
This can also lead to a desire to prove herself, causing her to act out in an attempt to show she’s capable of being ‘more’ than she is, and thus deserving to be taken more seriously.
In addition to this, she has an intense loyalty to her friends, meaning she will often back them up regardless of if they’re in the wrong or not. This fault tends to mean she cannot always reconcile her mistakes. She loves her friends and allies deeply, and will do many mental gymnastics to try and rationalize why they did what they did.
Finally, she doesn’t take well to betrayal, perceived or otherwise. She has been known to burn bridges and then regret it later. The closer she is to someone, the more she’s likely to overreact to a betrayal.

Rider was another face in the crowd.
She was another kid in the creche of some minor Hold, always dreaming about doing good on Pern. Rider always saw herself as a good and useful person, and thus wanted to be where the action was. She worked herself hard, always keeping a proverbial ear to the ground to the comings and goings of Pern. Living in a little Hold in the middle of nowhere made this hard, but she would always try and listen in to the gossip of traders and of the rare dragonrider alike.
Eventually, when she was 16, she would get caught by one of these Dragonriders, who’s dragon would offer her a place amongst their ranks. Or at least, Candidacy.
Despite this, she had never really THOUGHT about riding. Not in any serious capacity, at least. Without any proper ties to her life here, she would immediately accept and go out to Ista Weyr.
At first, the lifestyle of a dragonrider seemed all the more glamorous when she was up close to it. She kept her nose clean, working as hard as she could to prove herself. But the longer she stayed, the more she found the idea of dragonriding daunting. Not so scary as to chase her away, but scary enough to make her doubt her desire to be atop a dragon in the thick of Threadfall. Perhaps she should take a step back, or at least consider her options. Wherhandling, while just as treacherous, also allowed for her to be closer to the ground and thus all the safer. Plus, the idea of not being a total wreck should her wher perish was far more of an appealing option in the long run. She couldn’t very well be a pillar of the community while she was suffering from the downsides of losing a dragon, surely? Still. She would see her candidacy through for a bit longer…
Once she was 18, she would take on wher candidacy, giving herself plenty of time to consider her options and realizing whers were more her speed. At 19, she decided to move to Semeca in order to push herself all the more. The idea of testing her abilities in such an unforgiving place was tempting, as she felt she could really make a mark on this out of the way Weyr…
Eventually, she would stand for a wher hatching and partner up with a very curiously stoic blue, Dersk. There was no grand fanfare like she had thought might happen. It was just a quick rolling of an egg and that was that. They were partners now. And they would do their damnedest to keep Semeca safe. Spotties or pirates, it didn’t matter. Both would work their tails off to be part of the Weyr Guard, and thankfully, they would eventually achieve that dream…
