FULL APPEARANCE:
K'rio is pretty average for a man in both height and build, standing at 5' 8" in height and possessing a fairly lithe build, nothing too outstanding in that regard. Though he's not much of a looker for his physicality, he's quite attractive between his soft tan skin, dark green eyes, and warm brown hair, which is usually kept short enough to brush his shoulders. For his wardrobe, he usually wears something that emphasizes utility, but he's hardly afraid to dress well for special occasions or to impress, as well as easily and readily crossdressing. Sometimes K'rio prefers to wear traditionally feminine clothing, deciding he likes how he looks and feels in them.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Although K'rio seems quite confident and charming, it's actually a lot of bluff and bluster to hide bigger issues. In truth, he's can be rather timid and passive in personality, someone incredibly self-conscious and self-critical, who struggles to assert himself. While helping others, he's much more powerful and persuasive, but it's a completely different story if he has to stand up for himself. More often than not, he projects his troubles onto others through criticism and being particular about trivial matters to guard his own vulnerabilities. Though he won't admit it, he still fears and resents his parents' influence on his upbringing, sheltering him from a world that can be wonderful and trying to manipulate and use him in furthering his family's name.
Though he was a troublemaker for a brief duration during Candidacy, K'rio is actually a caring and thoughtful young man, capable of being quite sweet. While sometimes too sensitive for his own good, he has good intentions...usually; though he's usually kind enough, he understands what it means to survive and will easily put himself before someone he doesn't know or care about. But in spite of his gentle nature, he struggles to be optimistic and see things positively, holding himself to certain standards and being crushed should he fail, losing motivation to try again. As a result of his childhood, K'rio has a strong hatred for all things of Hold and Blood, outright rejecting his heritage and refusing contact from his family, especially his parents.
K'rio cares immensely for Mareath, her health and happiness his utmost priority. Ever since Impressing her, he's been so much happier, but losing Kukioyo dealt him a blow that hit him harder than he'd care to admit. How he feels about it (and her) are...complicated. How he hates her so for leaving, but how terribly he misses her every waking moment. How ungrateful she was for what Mareath says was him sharing his chance to Impress, but how grateful he was that she was there at all. Between his dragon's feelings and his own, K'rio has mostly chosen to bottle everything up and not process what happened.

BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold in Ista Province
HISTORY: TW: arranged marriage (unwanted), attempted imprisonment
Kakario was born to well-established Holders in Ista, last of four children. While his oldest brother was clearly his parents' heir, that didn't mean he would be permitted to do nothing of benefit to his family. From an early age, he studied refinement and responsibility, though it would be of little use to one who was not heir. Kakario consistently struggled to meet his parents' high expectations, growing up utterly miserable, making him a withdrawn child who didn't look to his siblings for much. It was his eighth birthday that gave him some small measure of comfort, his parents' traditional gift of a firelizard's egg yielding a brown he named Growlie, as much as his parents disapproved of such a name.
Though Growlie was his dearest and most steadfast friend, Kakario still faced his parents' prospects, a daunting thing for someone so young. Perhaps some part of him had hope they'd forget about him and let him live his life in gloom in glorious trappings, but he wasn't so fortunate. At sixteen Turns, his engagement to a young lady was announced. After being so unlucky to meet her himself, Kakario realized he couldn't do it; he wouldn't marry her. Upon hearing his refusal, his parents kept him prisoner in his own home; he was to be supervised on his every rarely permitted coming and going, his quarters watched, among other restrictions placed on him. Somehow, he and Growlie managed to find a figurative crack and fled as far as he could.
Finding himself in a cothold not far from home, Kakario realized his prospects were bleak; he had few applicable skills for life within a working Hold. It was there he met Kukioyo, a young woman of like circumstances that had him as soon as they saw each other. But whether it was luck or fate, a Searchdragon found him and offered him a chance to Stand as a Candidate for Ista. Immediately, he accepted. It wasn't like he had a better option and as a dragonrider, his parents couldn't touch him. But he worried about Kukioyo, about being separated from her, though it seemed his luck would hold, seeing as Kukioyo was Searched as well, much to his joy. Both went to Ista Weyr, where they met Meowth, all three nigh inseparable almost upon meeting each other. Mild-mannered Kakario quickly adopted a more troublesome personality, causing mischief alongside his new friends throughout his time as a Candidate. Perhaps there was also some level of attraction involved between him and Kukioyo, some magnetic pull that had him always standing by her.
It would be two Turns later that Kakario Impressed, a garnet named Mareath hatching and immediately choosing him for her own, demanding that he focus on her and nothing else. K'rio was absolutely ecstatic, loving her almost instinctively, blind to her flaws. Seeing as his dragon took an immediate dislike to Kukioyo, a rift sprang up between newly Impressed K'rio and Kukioyo, until a huge blowup between them resulted in her transfer elsewhere; which she didn't deign to tell K'rio that she was leaving or where she was going. Mareath was happy, so K'rio was happy too...right? In truth, some part of him was heartbroken, but he buried it for his dragon's sake. Ever since Kukioyo had left, things between K'rio and Meowth were strained, as much as both tried to move on and pretend everything was fine.
It reached a point that K'rio couldn't take staying in Ista and thinking about everything he'd done wrong, no matter how much Mareath assured him he didn't. Too ashamed to say goodbye to Meowth, afraid he wouldn't go through in transferring if he did, K'rio applied for transfer to Semaca and left as soon as he could; he ran away from his troubles once, so what's stopping him from doing so again?
