PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Despite how calm and sage-like Shamura can appear, they have quite the temper. They can be particularly nasty when spoken to in a bad mood and isn't afraid of tearing others down if they annoy them. They absolutely hate when people bring up their families, due to the fact they feel like their family will never be whole again. As a result, it is very hard to work with them and people can often expect to walk on eggshells around them.
That being said, Shamura is a family-orientated rider and cares a lot about their family. When the incident occurred, they were inconsolable for weeks, with their only comfort being Murask. They are also very loyal to their family and wher. Murask is often the only thing that can calm down Shamura when they're angry and Shamura will go out of their way to ensure Murask gets to hear the harper tales they're so fond of. There is also a part of Shamura who is still saddened by what happened and blames themselves. As a result, they tend to be vigilant in their job.
No one will suffer the same fate as Narinder as long as they can help it.

Shamura lived a pretty normal life. They were the oldest of five siblings and cared greatly for them, often protecting them from bullies and playing games with them. However, they did not get along with other children and other parents often found them to be a handful due to their temper issues. When they were not playing with their siblings, they would help their parents on the farm.
However, something that fascinated Shamura were whers. There were some wherhandlers who guarded their small cothold, mostly older people who had moved from Telgar Weyr to live in the cothold. While their siblings chose to take up apprenticeships and started training for their desired professions, Shamura honestly, dreamed of becoming a wherhandler and, as soon as they turned 18, they moved out and headed to Telgar Weyr, signing up to become a wher candidate.
The wait was going to be quite a long one, with Shamura waiting eight years (and several hatchings) before a small green egg was slid to them. The egg hatched into a rather large green wherlet, making Shamura chuckle a bit. Murask was like a breath of fresh air and Shamura worked hard to become a wherhandler.
However, shortly before their graduation, their brother, Kallamar, sent them a letter. In it, Shamura found out, in horror, that their middle brother, Narinder, the one they were the closest with, had passed away. He had gotten severely sick and, even with medicine, he had not recovered and thus, passed away at the age of seventeen.
This devastated Shamura and, even when they graduated, they saw no joy. In fact, they just seemed to go through the motions, their depression worsening. Murask became their only companion during this time, as Shamura would often stay away from others unless it was time for Threadfall.
Eventually, Shamura decided something- they could no longer stay in Telgar Weyr, Telgar Hold, or even their own home. It had too many memories and they chose to leave. Semaca had been established a year before Murask was born, so around in 2772, they chose to head there and joined the rest of the wherhandlers.
While they aren't sure how to feel about the pirates, they chose to keep to themselves. After all, the pirates had their own rights too, and their own problems most likely.
Though, pirates becoming candidates is pushing it a bit, in their opinion.
