PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Wei'ling is not a very serious person. He is more interested in his own fun than his responsibilities. When he does work, it tends to be the bare minimum and his work can be described as 'shoddy at best'. Along with this, he tends to oversleep and ignore when other try to wake up. The only one really able to wake him up is Chenqith, as she will shout in his head to wake him up. Otherwise, it is incredibly hard to wake him up and, if he is not dragged out of bed, he can completely miss important deadlines or dates.
Along with this, he tends to prefer to relax and drink than follow the rules. He understands that rules are meant to be there for a reason, but if the rules inhibit his ability to have fun, he tends to ignore it. He just wants to prioritize his own fun, alright? He tends to be very playful, often teasing his friends. He also teases other people at times, not realizing he can be hurtful by his teasing. However, when there's a serious topic, he tends to quiet down and listen to the other's worries and complaints. He will even try to improve himself if someone has a problem with how he does things. However, as he has been lazy his entire life, it takes multiple attempts for him to improve himself.
If someone he knows is a stick in the mud, especially if it's Lan'zhan, he will often try to get under their skin to annoy them. He tends to mean this in a playful and friendly way, but he tends to lack social awareness and not realize what he can say can hurt others.

BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold
HISTORY:
Wei'ling had a pretty decent childhood. He was adored by his parents, who were both holdfolks. They wanted their son to always feel loved and because of this, they did end up spoiling him. This led for future problems down the line, such as his laziness. He didn't seem to care, though. He was happy and loved living his own life. His parents were always there for him, so he considered himself the luckiest boy in the hold!
It led to him even being unable to stay as an apprentice for a long period of time. He had always had a love of music and wanted to try and become a harper as a result. However, his mentor was always annoyed at his tendency to oversleep and turn out late. Not to mention that Wei'ling often did the bare minimum of work. This didn't bother Wei'ling as much as it could have. He could always just marry and be a good partner to whoever he was with.
However, shortly after he turned sixteen, a searchrider from Telgar Weyr had arrived. His younger cousin, Cheng, had been searched by them and just before they were going to leave, the dragon noticed Wei'ling and their eyes seemed to light up. The dragon was quick to talk to their rider and the rider offered for Wei'ling to come with them.
Wei'ling was a bit in shock. After all, it wasn't every day that you were selected to become a candidate. Before he even realized what he was saying, he said yes immediately. This was an adventure that he couldn't afford to miss out on! His parents were incredibly proud of him too
After they arrived in Telgar Weyr, Wei'ling was assigned a roommate and he was sure that fate was coming for him. His roommate, Lan'zhan, was his complete opposite. Wei'ling enjoyed teasing him and getting under his skin, but eventually, he began to feel.. romantic feelings towards him.
He kept them hidden until he was twenty five turns old. He had been a decent candidate, making an effort to get to class and only missing a small handful of classes. However, he did still tend to oversleep and watched as a lot of his fellow candidates impressed, including his own cousin. That honestly hurt, but he grew to accept it. He knew he was likely going to be unable to impress a dragon at Telgar and, before leaving to Igen Wer where there was a clutch in the sands, he confessed his feelings to Lan'zhan. He told him that he didn't think he would impress a dragon, but he asked the other to wait for him, as Wei'ling planned on returning. He was surprised to find out Lan'zhan shared the same feelings towards him.
This seemed to add fuel to Wei'ling's fire. He wanted to impress now. He doubt a dragon wouldn't impress to the other. He just didn't think he would impress. He had wasted a lot of his youth and had a lot of bad habits he needed to break. However, it seemed that one of the eggs at Igen seemed to agree with him. He was amazed when the young dragon broke free from her egg and walked to him in a poised manner. Everyone seemed in shock, as she was not an ordinary color. In fact, she was a unique color. However, Wei'ling didn't care at all.
This was his dragon.
Chenqith encouraged him to work hard in his weyrling years, wanting him to work hard and even making sure he'd wake up. While these years were hard, Wei'ling was happy when he graduated with the rest of his weyrling class, Chenqith now at her full size. It was during this time Cheng sent his cousin a letter saying that he and Lan'zhan had decided to transfer to Semaca Weyr. Wei'ling had decided that he would go there as soon as he graduated.
Though, he's sure neither Chenqith and him are too thrilled to be in Lamentoso Squad. However, it was understandable. He had a lot of bad habits he still had to get rid of.
Maybe one day, he could transfer to a new squad.
