FULL APPEARANCE: Though certifiably tiny, at 5'1", Fayne is a ball of sheer presence, her body language always extremely expressive. Despite her height, she is decently well-built and she tends to wear practical, yet somewhat light clothing that's suited for the hot weather. Her skintone is a soft tan, with dark brown eyes; and despite keeping a resting scowl in an attempt to make herself look tough, she's got a cute, round face that makes her look slightly younger than she is. Her dark, brown hair is kept long, with bangs cut in the front.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Fayne is, assuredly, a gremlin. There's a lot of volume packed into her tiny body; she is extremely loud and confrontational, deliberately trying to act strong and tough and intimidating. In reality, she does this not only as a defensive mechanism as she is incredibly insecure about feeling inadequate or weak, but even moreso, she doesn't want other people to see her as such due to her own personal self-doubt. She is deeply paranoid, and definitely cares too much about others' opinions of her, no matter how hard she tries to convince herself that she doesn't; she has very little self-esteem and a fragile ego, but tries her best not to let it show. She constantly brags about how great she is, making up ridiculous, fake achievements to try to make herself seem cool.
Fayne is, despite being a rider, incredibly immature for her age. She has absolutely no patience or filter, and is incredibly unsubtle about everything, oftentimes being crass or vulgar, rarely thinking before she speaks. As well as this, she can't keep a secret to save her life, and in general she's not very smart and very unaware of her surroundings. The majority of her brainpower went towards practical knowledge, and survival skills - which she is fairly good at. She feels like life is a competition, almost, feeling like she constantly has to prove herself; though she feels pressured by her own standards, this does actually motivate her to work hard.
Despite everything, once Fayne learns to trust someone and lets them in past her defenses, she becomes incredibly ride-or-die for them. If anyone hurts her friends, she will not hesitate to yell at them, to make an attempt to intimidate them, et cetera. Once she dishes it out, however, she can't really take it back, and even if she wants to pretend like she doesn't get upset easily, she definitely gets upset easily, and takes everything that's said to her to heart. She relies on her dragon a lot, too; where Ryybaeth is perceptive and sneaky, Fayne is loud and boisterous, and the two of them think they're geniuses together, the perfect partners in crime... but they're really not, they're a pair of gremlins. Even then, she still trusts in her dragon more than anyone else.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Mother: Fayleen of Green Larenth
Father: Nemor of Blue Nowith
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: No
BIRTHPLACE: Igen Weyr
HISTORY:
cw: bullying/kiddy fights
Born at Igen to two riders, as a product of flightlust, Fayne spent the majority of her formative years in the creche. Her parents visited whenever they could, in between their duties. She was an awkward and cowardly child, often the target of a couple of the other kids' jokes, who would pick on her for her rather excessive reactions. She would often respond to bullying with screaming, crying, and running away, which unfortunately only encouraged her bullies to pick on her even more. Over time, she learnt to fight back... to some extent. She became more defensive, trying to make herself seem tough to make the bullies leave her alone, as if trying to beat them at their own game, with... varying results.
When she was twelve, in 2766, Fayne's parents brought her a present; a firelizard egg, which hatched into a strange little creature. She had first assumed it was a blue, but the majority of its body seemed certifiably too dark to be anything! After asking around, she'd realised the critter was more than likely a strange, mutation colour; she named her River, in honour of her pretty, blue markings. At fifteen she became a candidate, and even though she'd been a weyrbrat for her entire life so far, it was still something of a culture shock. It was so much work, but she was destined to do it. Anything for a super cool dragon, anything to prove to people that she was worth something. She was determined to Impress, and she found herself well-motivated.
In 2770, Fayne impressed to Ryybaeth - fairly early in the cycle of her candidacy, which filled her with an immense amount of pride. The dragon made an attempt to balance out Fayne; she was sneaky and stealthy, where Fayne was very loud. Unfortunately, Ryybaeth wouldn't really help her 'grow up' at all - she was a little trickster, a little bit naughty, but she would definitely try to help her rider learn and enhance on the skills she did have. Motivation to work hard, practical skills - things Fayne could reasonably do very well at. Upon graduating, Fayne and Ryybaeth knew what they wanted - Semaca Weyr would be a great opportunity for them! They would excel, together, at scouting, tracking, hunting, fending off the spotties from the Weyr - opportunities that just weren't as fruitful in other Weyrs.
They fit right in at Semaca, after transferring. This was the perfect Weyr! Fayne didn't really care so much about the pirates or anything like that, and since they transferred in the midst of the peak of Semaca's spotty problem, they had a goal, a purpose, a task they could pursue. Not only that, but the less traditional nature of Semaca compared to other Weyrs was a breath of fresh air. Since then, they've been working hard to help keep Semaca safe, among the rest of their squad.
