FULL APPEARANCE: A modest little thing, standing tall but no more so than average. Her skin is the color of rich klah, so deeply brown that she would make a tree trunk blush. Smallish coffeeground freckles splash across her cheeks, crossing the threshold of her nose with relative ease. The last vestiges of her preteen years make themselves known in the spotting of acne on her charming face. Bright so-deeply-brown-they-may-as-well-be-black irises set upon high cheekbones. There is a gap between her right upper lateral incisor and right upper cuspid. Traze's mahogany hair is wild and unkempt. It gives the impression of rarely being brushed, although this is far from the truth. Humidity just doesn't do it any favors.
Traze favors loose-fitting clothes that allow air flow over her skin and ease of movement. To this end, she will often be seen wearing ponchos depending on the scenery and season, and she has a vast array of hues to sport. Her ears are pierced and typically sporting some type of silvery loops.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Traze is a spitfire and it shows in her lack of friends. For somebody so dedicated to what may appear to be a lofty subject, this young woman is anything but tactful or calm. She has little patience for interlopers, and will wave you aside if you take up too much of her time for something frivolous or (what she deems as) stupid. There is no shortage of insults that can be hurled from her mouth and not all of them are well-versed. Most of them aren't. But they certainly get the point across.
Traze is very self-centered, not involving herself in Weyr or Hold politics unless they somehow directly affect her or Azesk. If someone were to approach her with the intention of prattling her ear off about 'old ways this' or 'reform that', they would get told in no uncertain terms to buzz off. Conversations are appreciated if they are meaningful and intelligent, and she is respectful to those who can meet her in wit.
She does have a soft spot for the misfits of Pern. Traze is more likely to whip them into shape, reasoning that they can be rehabilitated into better denizens of Pern without sapping essential resources. Even those of high age with shaking hands can do their part. There's no room for dawdlers! She is more than willing to cross the aisle to meet them halfway and has taken it upon herself to learn Pernese Sign Language to fully extend herself. Traze adores kids, too ... but not so much that she would look after them. After a while they tend to get annoying, and she'll shoo them off too.
The only one Traze has any kind of intimacy with is Azesk. If the Weyr were a sky, the garnet wher would be her sun and moon and all things in between. She adores the great beast despite the wher's constant anxiety attacks, and will fawn over her endlessly.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Al'ton of Green Misayath - father
Vespa of Brown Thyrinth - mother (43)
Noor of Bronze Nuunieth - half-sister (30)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Weyr
HISTORY: Born into a Telgar Weyr creche from the mating of a greenrider and her mother, Traze never got to know her father. Al'ton belonged to Igen and had only been there for some sort of official meeting when his Misayath took to Flight. Her mother, Vespa, was not fully accountable as a mother - which was fair considering how normal of a thing that was in Weyrs - but she did take many opportunities to guide and support Traze as well as some of the others in the creche. Most of the nurturing that kept the children alive came from other weyrfolk and the headwoman. Still, it was all she could ask for. The constant doting of one or the other kept her from becoming cynical of the world she'd been brought into.
Sort of.
She was only 3 when refugees fled to Telgar Weyr from High Reaches. Too young to fully grasp the context of what was going on. Suddenly there were more people there - and just as suddenly, they were gone. Whatever calamity had happened, had passed in the blink of an eye. Traze would not learn of Golre's reign of terror until much later. She would get to witness firsthand Telgar's generosity when it came to aid others in Threadfall and even donated a clutch. And there was the plague - that horrid virus that eradicated a good handful of Pernese civilians. By some good fortune, Traze managed to escape its grasp with little more than a sniffle.
As Traze grew, Vespa and the other weyrfolk began ushering her towards dragon candidacy. But being within the confines of Telgar Weyr, comfortable and homely as it might have been, was giving her the awfullest desire to get out and stretch her legs (and being surrounded by kids of all ages in her creche was starting to get on her nerves). News of Semaca Weyr being founded made the notion of switching places a delightfully adventurous desire. The weather there was supposed to be entirely different from the Northern Continent. And the stars ... ! She wondered at the constellations that might be seen from a different point of view. Traze pressed for it, despite Vespa's insistence she remain, and became one with the Summerlands finally in the spring of 2774.
She was 17 then and just old enough to stand for an Impression, but fortune favored her in an entirely different way. A caravan of traders from the pirate hold ventured by one evening and Traze found herself bedazzled by a particular egg they were selling ... She purchased it with the marks she'd brought with her. On the following eve, her constant care of the fragile thing paid off. A little garnet emerged onto Pern and declared Traze her's once blood was shared.
Fresh from wherlinghood as 2775 came to a close, Traze and Azesk merged into the Mizurka Squad. Somewhere on the side of her normal duties as a handler, Traze had found herself enamored by the Summerlands' unique weather system. She apprenticed in starcrafting, utilizing her time in Mizurka to both chart the night sky and acquaint herself with the natural indicators that came with meteorological phenomena.
