"Little beast, are you wild as me?
Left some teeth in your enemies
We won't be broken
There's no curse we haven't spoken
There is no oath, there is no spell
To deliver us, to make us well"

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Quentin has an outward appearance of stoicism and composure. In reality, they're a socially anxious mess who hates speaking in public. They'd much rather talk one-on-one, or ideally, communicate through sign language. Because of their aversion to crowds, Quentin tends to hang on the edges of the room, and typically will not speak unless spoken to. They are often fidgeting with their hands or small objects.
Despite their aversion to speaking, Quentin is never one to back down from a challenge or a fight, and is notorious for taking a few more swings after their opponent has already conceded. They're not one to take half measures in anything they do, and will tackle any task head on with full effort. They have a very strong work ethic, like routine and sticking to planned schedules.
Quentin's upbringing as a relatively uneducated farmer means they are a bit naive and are easily taken advantage of. They're loyal to friends and will do almost anything asked of them by a friend, even if it is unsavory in nature.

Quentin was born the youngest of four siblings to a pair of farmers serving a minor hold near Fort. From a young age, Quentin and their brothers were expected to help with the chores and the farm, instilling them with a strong body and even stronger work ethic.
From a young age, Quentin was fascinated by dragons and flight. Dragonriders who valiantly fought against the Thread were heroes to young Quentin. They often said that one day, they'd be a dragon rider and fly higher than anybody else ever had. While being a rider would bring great pride and honor to the family, Quentin's father did his best to temper the little one's expectations. It was rare to be a rider, after all. Though Quentin's mother had a soft spot for her youngest, and encouraged the child to dream big. Quentin's brothers teased them incessantly over it.
The family didn't interact much with other folks in the hold, so Quentin grew up with no real friends outside of their immediate family. This combined with the endless teasing led to Quentin's preference to stay quiet. In addition, they spent much of their childhood working the farm, so they are not particularly skilled in the literary arts.
When Quentin was 10, they were wandering the wilds near their home when they accidentally stumbled upon a pack of wild dogs. The startled dogs attacked the child, who managed to fend them off and return home. Quentin still bears the scars from this encounter, and is wary around dogs to this day. Despite the minor fear of dogs, Quentin loves animals on the whole and tends to get along better with them than people.
Shortly after Quentin turned 18, their mother passed away from disease. On her deathbed, she encouraged Quentin to pursue their dream and sign up to be a candidate. Quentin decided to do just that, and left the hold with the next caravan that came through. They were heading to Semaca. Along the journey, Quentin befriended an older wherhandler who was planning to relocate to Semaca too, and Quentin took a shine to him.
