Tychon's skin is tanned and worn from turns spent on ships at sea. He has freckles absolutely everywhere, but especially on his face and shoulders, and he has some pox scars. His nose is crooked, having been broken once in his youth and badly reset. He does not smile often, which makes him seem more serious, but really he's just self-conscious about his crooked teeth (which are really not as bad as he thinks). He has a deep voice, and is often soft-spoken.

Turns of hard labor on a ship has given him an extremely fit physique, and he is not shy about showing it off by wearing tops that show a lot of skin when he isn't just going topless altogether. He typically wears his long hair down, but will quickly tie it back if he needs to do work. He also wears heavy eyeliner, and between that and his hair, it gives him a slightly more alluring air, although the eyeliner serves the more practical purpose of helping to sun from being too blinding.

Tychon originally comes across as cool and aloof, preferring to sit in a corner shuffling cards and letting people come to him rather than approaching them himself. It's not that he's shy, he just prefers to study his marks people before he engages them directly. He can be rather charming once he gets talking though, albeit in a more quiet way. He gives people his entire attention once he's talking to them, which can feel a little intense, but it also means he doesn't do well speaking to more than a few people at once as he begins to feel overwhelmed trying to give everyone his entire attention.

Tychon's childhood means that he has many criminal unusual skills, as well as a...shall we say flexible moral code. Things like murder are obviously bad, but the concept of property in particular is one he never really got hung up on. If someone isn't able to protect their possessions from theft, then they didn't deserve to keep those possessions. This idea applies to him as well, and if someone manages to steal something off him, he is happy to let them keep it.

Tychon is not above flirting with people to get them to do what he wants, and will happily string people along who he feels no attraction to at all. Again, if they're fool enough to fall for that, it's their own fault and they deserve to be taken in. Tychon is a smooth-talker, and often able to wiggle their way out of getting in trouble unless there's irrefutable evidence they were doing something explicitly against the rules. He enjoys showing off card tricks often as a distraction so he can do something underhanded.

Tychon doesn't have much in the way of an obvious temper, but he is an unbelievably petty person, and will go to pretty wild lengths just to spite someone he's angry at, all with a pleasant smile on his face. He also never forgets a slight, and is willing to wait turns for the perfect opportunity to get back at someone if they've really irritated him. He avoids the healer's hall like the plague, as he has an oversized fear of getting sick.

Tychon was born to pirates sailors who'd travel from port-to-port, trading goods and providing entertainments at various ports before heading off to the next location. Because of this nomadic lifestyle, he learned early on not to let himself get attached to people. Even shipmates, who could become sick or injured unexpectedly, sometimes lethally if there wasn't enough medical supplies on hand to help them. Tychon himself came down with a pox when he was very young, and while he survived, he still carries some scars from it and is very nervous around illness and sick people.

Once as a teen, Tychon wasn't paying attention and got hit in the face by one of the ship's many moving parts. That was when his nose was broken. He refused to go to the ship's healer, having an irrational fear of contracting the pox that almost killed him as a child should he so much as step foot in the ship's infirmary, so his father set his nose instead. It hurt, and it healed crooked, but Tychon preferred that to having to go to the infirmary for such a simple injury that was absolutely his own mistake. His father made the mistake of telling him he wouldn't make a good sailor if he couldn't keep his head out of the clouds. It hurt Tychon to hear more than his father had meant it to, and Tychon nursed that grudge for turns.

Tychon's father likes all things avian, which was why he named his ship what he did. At every port, he would try to befriend birds, nurse any injured birds he'd find back to health and even raised a few. He gave Tychon his own pet bird to raise when he was sixteen, and Tychon has doted on the creature ever since.

Due to his parents' profession, Tychon learned to pick pockets and locks, count cards, load dice, and many other slight-of-hand tricks that would allow him to help his family part people from their money as they moved around. Cards were one of Tychon's particular favorites, and with his intense, unflinching expression, he could unnerve even some experienced card players. When Semaca became an available port of call, his family smoothly added it into their rotation, and it quickly became a favorite. When Tychon was searched...well, his father had once told him he wouldn't make a good sailor if he couldn't keep his head out of the clouds. He reminded his father of that moment and told him he'd be joining Semaca weyr so he could keep his head firmly in the clouds. His father was angry at first, but mostly because his son was being petty and ridiculous and had a promising future as a sailor, but his temper is as changeable as the sea, and Tychon is confident he'll get over it. Cissy has a vibrant green body. She also has a bright red beak, brown wings, and a black “mask” running across her eyes. She is about 10 ½ inches long and weighs about 127g. She is often seen riding around on Tychon’s shoulder. She has a very loud obnoxious-sounding call, like other jays and corvids. As magpies of this species can typically live for 18-20 years, she’s still fairly young.

Cissy is a fairly typical example of the corvid family. She is a clever bird, often pulling pranks and stealing things, teasing other animals, and sometimes even just doing silly things for the joy of being silly. Tychon is her favorite teasing victim, which he sometimes tolerates with absolute stoicism and other times with intentionally oversized reactions, both of which she finds hilarious. She has been trained to try stealing things from people’s pockets while Tychon plays cards with them, and will often bring him any random shiny things she finds, and he usually lets her keep them.

A green that is impossible to miss, Ezanath is on the larger end of greens, though not as big as Ossabhath. What people notice about her first, however, is her large horns. She has three long horns that curve backwards like a crest, and two large horns that curve forwards around the sides of her head. She is rather average beyond that. Her body is a very bold, lighter yellowy-green. She has various markings over her in a rich green. There are strings of ivy that curl around her neck and tail. Her forelegs are a bolder green, the same color swirling down her sides, and fading down the backs of her wingsails.

One could describe Ezanath as "mystical" and they would be right. This green is the greenest of nature-loving and free-loving greens. She's not floaty, not vibing through life like she smoked a bunch of herbal substances, but she definitely is someone who will put the good first, and she will have no tolerance for those who want to take advantage of those less fortunate. She'll volunteer herself to plow fields, search for herbs, go hunting, anything to help. But she is respectful of the land around her. Respect the storm and the spotties alike, those both could kill you and she knows it. She is not a pushover, and she will hold firm to her principles even if it means she makes enemies in the process. She wants to live her life in her way: as a green who can spend candlemarks lying among the grass and flowers, or lying on her ledge in the rain, happy as ever.

To her rider, Ezanath is a wonderful partner. She is helpful and attentive, up with the dawn and ready for anything. She's got everything on track and she can adapt to almost anything, which can make her rider's life much easier. She is not overbearing, and for as much as she is all about loving the trees, she is very aware that nature is not really her friend, that it can be just as harmful as helpful. Despite her appearance, she has a calm demeanor and would be happy to be a Searchdragon, or be an ambassador to the Northern Weyrs.

Voice: With a voice like an approaching storm, Ezanath is confident and calm. She does not use flowery language, always speaking clearly and plainly so there is no room for misinterpretation.

Why Me?: Tychon may be trouble, but Ezanath finds that kind of trouble very exciting. She could be convinced to do crime.
