FULL APPEARANCE:
Of average height for Pernese men, Anduin probably wouldn't win any contests in reaching things off the top shelf. He is also often told he is handsome by his totally-unbiased partner. Frame-wise, he's not bulky but over time has definitely gotten hit with the puberty stick, filling out from a lanky boy into a sturdy young man. He's muscled but not at all bulky, just the sort of body befitting of one who spends more time than not helping around the Weyr however he can.
His youthful face remains clean-shaven, though first thing in the mornings one can sometimes spot him with overnight scruff. His hair is long and straw blond, when not held back in a tail reaches the bottoms of his shoulder blades. His skin is lightly tanned but on the paler end, and a few scars nick along his arms and legs from childhood but nothing of particular note sticks out. Anduin's eyes are bright blue and very expressive.
On his person at all times is a beltknife which once belonged to his father.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Anduin is a compassionate and thoughtful individual, surprisingly open-minded and accepting for having been raised in the conservative atmosphere of a Hold. Despite this toward others, he has a lot of difficulty with accepting his own romantic and sexual identity as he struggles to reconcile the values he's acquired at the weyr with the lingering influence of his upbringing. His father's legacy weighs heavily on his mind and he hopes that one day, he'll prove worthy of being his father's son.
Anduin has a strong sense of morality he does his best to live up to. He is prone to making decisions with his heart rather than his head and it is hard to sway him from what he's decided is right. He dislikes violence and worries deeply about another war starting between Weyrs. Anduin is a friendly person who can tend towards naïveté, believing that things can be resolved peacefully in all instances, or firmly-held opinions can be swayed by words or evidence. Anduin expects all candidates and riders to live up to their roles and it will take time for someone to regain his trust if he sees them as falling short of his ideals.
Although he tries to hide it, Anduin suffers from a great deal of self-doubt. Overall, he harbors longstanding insecurities over being a very different sort of person than his idolized (perhaps even idealized) version of his father, which occasionally drives him to distraction and borderline self-destructive behavior. Under the correct circumstances, Anduin will compromise his personal ideals, if he thinks it is what his father would have done.

Anduin's parents were initially an unlikely couple. They disliked each other, only tolerating one another for the sake of their dragons, Tiffin's green always choosing Varian's bronze in her Flights. But by the time Anduin was conceived, they were deeply in love and completely inseparable. Unfortunately, Anduin would never remember meeting his mother. Tiffin passed shortly after he was born, from complications.
Following the loss of his love and weyrmate, Anduin's father fell into a deep depression. Perhaps due to the treatment of his greenrider weyrmate, instead of having Anduin raised in the Weyr, Varian had his parents take the boy with him back to their Hold. Llane and Taria, though aged, raised him as their own, though gave no illusions to his parentage. Anduin grew up hearing great stories about his father, and how his mother had been well-liked even as a greenrider. Anduin's father stole away as often as he could to visit his son. The two had a surprisingly good relationship.
At fifteen, he was Searched to High Reaches, to great pride from his grandparents and his father. At the prompting of the Candidatemaster for all Candidates to pursue a craft should they age out, he began learning from the Weyr's healers.
Unfortunately, the Turn following his Search would see Varian lost in a devastating Threadfall. Although upset by the loss of his father, Anduin does believe he died a hero.
Over time, he formed a relationship with his unusual roommate, a fellow Candidate by the name of Wrathion. Although the other was standoffish at first, Anduin finally seemed to win him over. He did have some difficulty admitting when he realized his feelings extended beyond friendhship, his more conservative upbringing making it a bit more difficult to accept that he may be feeling romantic inclinations toward his friend. It was fine for anyone else, but for him? Well. Luckily, when things came to light the feeling was mutual, and though he keeps their relationship quiet, they have managed several Turns together.
Although several events shook his faith in High Reaches, he wanted to believe that the Weyr his father had championed for his entire life wasn't the monster that everyone said. Still, he followed Wrathion to Semaca for the chance at Impressing. Little does he know that it's where he'll be staying for the forseeable future.
