FULL APPEARANCE:
Aldar has the makings of a fine young man, though it's hard to say what he might look like as a grown adult. Through the early stages of puberty he grew quite tall, and will clearly range in the higher end of average when he's done. Right now he looks a little awkward, all gangling limbs and unsure of his own space as he adjusts to his changes.
Ginger hair falls just past his shoulders in the back, feathering lightly in natural layers. He painstakingly shaves off any facial hair, keeping himself from growing any sort of beard. His eyebrows are on the thicker end, but not quite what one would call "caterpillar." Not yet, at least. It's highly likely that they will be in that state by the time he starts turning grey (if his grandfather is anything to go by). There are no noticeable nicks or scars just yet on his pale skin, and his eyes are a murky shade of green. Although he has fiery red hair, he has no noticeable freckles.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Outwardly, Aldar comes off as a calm, disinterested sort. More of a wallflower than any sort of forward-actor. True enough that he would often rather observe in quiet contemplation than speak out, but that watching is the main purpose. He observes. He gathers information. Aldar is not particularly quick to act. He bides his time, to make what he believes the most informed decision or action. He would prefer to remain as a neutral party in a debate and hear both sides rather than back one over another on feelings alone. This may make him seem callous to casual friends, choosing to be neutral rather than back them up, especially if his decision is to ultimately side against them based on facts.
Maintaining friendships can be difficult for him, as he does tend to be aloof at times and has a preference for sitting quietly over grand adventure. This isn't to say he couldn't be coerced, but he would be the sort to petulantly remind everyone every so often that they could get into some sort of trouble for whatever it is they're doing. He loves listening to harper tales and to music, and enjoys sketching in his free time. If he finds himself particularly fond of someone, he may ask to put their likeness to parchment, though he rarely gives these out. Aldar has a particularly good memory for places and faces, but not necessarily names.
Probably in large part due to his varied upbringing, influenced by the local population who looked up to riders more than his parents who seemed to be the odd ones out, he does think highly of dragonriders in general. It is thanks to his parents though that he does have a little bit of bias against metallic dragons (bronzes, golds) and their riders. Luckily, Aldar is good at behaving cordially and would never treat them with disrespect or outright suspicion. He would also never be intentionally hostile, but his guard is definitely up when in their presence. Interestingly, he doesn't seem bothered by the "unusual" dragons or riders, and is far more fascinated than frightened by them--probably due to their very existence moreso and what it may mean for the future of Pern. He did pursue Scribercraft for a reason.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother - Alive, Holder ; Father - Alive, Tailorcrafter
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Minor Cothold in Igen Territory
HISTORY:
He is the only child of his parents, both of whom are older than many others of his age. After many, many Turns of trying, they had nearly given up. Then, his mother carried her pregnancy to term and Aldar was born, healthy and strong. His mother was weakened and was restricted to housework and childcare, tasks which gave her plenty of time to look after her only son. Luckily, Aldar's father made plenty for them to live well enough on. Having migrated away from High Reaches territory, his parents came with bias against dragonriders, especially those of metallic colours, though time around Weyrs with less... detrimental leaders had softened those by the time Aldar was learning from them. They still harbored enough distaste for metallic riders to sour their child's opinion, however, even if he didn't understand why.
Thanks to his father's profession, Aldar grew up in relative luxury compared to many other holders. While his father was not a mastercraftsman, clothing is and will always be needed by the people of Pern, so he grew up not particularly wanting for food or shelter. Other than this, his life was fairly average. He learned from Harpers, he made friends with those who wished to have him as true friends (usually bookish people like himself), and grew.
When he came of age his parents paid for travel to the Harper Hall in Fort Hold to pursue training in Harpercraft, specifically Scribercraft. Although he was diligent in his studies, at fifteen he was Searched and gladly accepted the opportunity, finding himself at Fort Weyr. When a clutch came to be laid at Semaca, he took the opportunity to be transferred to the new Weyr, having wanted to go since he first began to hear about its founding.
