FULL APPEARANCE: Shui is, to put it simply, a beanpole. Tall and skinny, with long legs even for his height. Being a teenager, he’s still on the ganglier side, and hasn’t quite managed to put on enough muscle to make himself look bulky. However, despite the long, gangly, limbs, there’s a boyish charms to his looks. He hasn’t quite shed all his baby fat yet, his face still a tad rounded. The real charm in his looks comes from the constant smile he wears, his tousled black curls, and his dark eyes that always seem to be amused at something. He rarely wears any kind of expression that isn’t silly or happy, and will no doubt develop laugh lines as he ages. Under one of his eyes is a simple beauty mark, small and near perfectly rounded.
In terms of clothing, Shui prefers to keep it simple. Things that are practical for the wear and tear of life in a Weyr, usually paired with a sturdy pair of boots made to keep some of the dangers of the jungle at bay, at least. These clothes tend to be darker in color for the sake of practicality, easier to maintain and much harder to stain.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Shui is a very easygoing individual, for the most part. He likes almost everyone, and only the sourest of the sour people are really capable of fazing him too much. Even then, he tries to be polite, firmly of the belief that everyone should be treated with at least a modicum of respect. It takes a lot to make Shui angry, and it’s rarely on his own behalf even when he does get angry.
Shui is also a very happy person by nature. It doesn’t take much to occupy his attention, though he gets distracted easily because even the smallest things can be of fascination to him. He’s the type of person that could find interest in even the dullest of things, so his attention is often split. He can be forgetful at times because of this, though he never intentionally puts anything off if he actually remembers to do it.
In the instances where Shui isn’t feeling well or is upset in some capacity, he will pretend everything is fine, to even his own detriment and the detriment of others. No problem exists if he pretends there isn’t one, right? He has a hard time acknowledging when there are real problems, and laughs things off no matter what. He’s very stubborn in this sense, and there aren’t many people who are capable of smacking some sense back into his head under such circumstances.
His energy seems endless to those who don’t know him well, and he doesn’t seem to sit still for too long, usually. Shui, however, is only human, and even he has his own low energy moments. These are usually when he finds himself missing his family in Fort, and wants the space to reminisce in peace.

SIGNIFICANT OTHER:
BIRTHPLACE: Igen Weyr
HISTORY: Born to a pair of handlers in Igen, Shui was always a pretty happy child. The majority of his time was spent in the crèche with the other children, who he’d been trying to befriend practically from the moment he was old enough to crawl. Among them was one of his cousins, similar in age to him, who eventually became one of Shui’s closest friends as they grew. Eventually, his cousin also ended up with a younger brother, who Shui and the older cousin treated exactly as any older siblings would treat a younger one. His cousin was more reserved than him, but both grew a reputation for being hard to make mad among the crèche, and both were decently popular with the other kids. Neither was liked by everyone, but that was to be expected- no matter how friendly one is, it’s pretty much impossible to get everyone to love them.
That hardly mattered to the cousins, especially Shui. Shui was perfectly fine with even just his cousin, and the occasional visits from his parents or his aunt and uncle, who were also handlers. He preferred to have more friends, but he was still content as it was, especially once he was of an age where he could sign up for candidacy with his cousin. To their parent’s disappointment, both preferred to go into dragon candidacy, where they would stay for the next few years. His cousin impressed relatively early on, leaving Shui to stay alone in candidacy for quite a while.
As the years ticked by, Shui did not impress, though he was hit like a truck by puberty and growth spurts. He shot up like a weed during this time, and also discovered his attraction to almost anybody pretty within his age range. He tried the dating thing, though all of the relationships he tried for were short lived. Something about his constant state of exuberant happiness came to be grating for the few boyfriends and girlfriends he had, and none of them ended up staying with him.
Eventually, four years had passed and Shui still had yet to impress. He decided it was time for a change of scenery, and ended up asking to transfer to another Weyr to live out the rest of his candidacy there, in hopes that maybe his match would be found in a different Weyr. In the end, he decided on Semaca, curious about the relatively new Weyr, and transferred there only after extensive goodbyes to his cousins, parents, and aunt and uncle.
