FULL APPEARANCE:
A man as shaped by combat training as that of his smithing, Xanatos is a physically imposing figure. He has broad shoulders and a powerful build maintained by years of work and training. He keeps his hair long, though it is more often than not tied back to keep it from interfering with his vision when he works, and, somewhat unusually for Pernese men, has a goatee, lending to a somewhat intimidating essence to him.
He is reasonably tall but not excessively so. He would be considered attractive by many, but there is some quality to him that just seems unnerving, even if it doesn't leave a physical mark. His gaze is seldom softened, and a hard, penetrating stare is his usual state, seemingly judging the worthiness of those around him.
When not working, he tends to be a sharp dresser, always clean and pressed for an event or important meeting, and he takes great pride in his personal appearance and fitness.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Xanatos is perfectly capable of putting on a personable face, but he prefers to be direct and to the point. He is, at heart, a businessman who knows what he wants and often has a good idea of how to get it, even by means that are not often savory.
He's careful to walk the line on the side of legal, but he has a ruthless side when it comes to matters of personal pride and power. He places great importance on status and seeks to gain it where he can, along with whatever riches he can manage.
An inventor, he seeks to stretch the boundaries of what Smithcrafting can accomplish, and he often experiments with whatever scraps of spare materials he can gather. He's known for his skill as a weapon-maker, but is also a talent with working jewels. He does, after all, enjoy the finer things.
He prizes loyalty in his friends, and will provide as he can repayment for their dedication to him. Any slight, however, and the perpetrator would do well to watch out.
Hardened by years of ambition and thirst for power, there's little that can sway him to mercy if he is wronged, though for the right person they might just be able to discover if he has a softer side.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother and Father, residing in Fort Hold
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Hold
HISTORY: The son of two successful merchants, Xanatos wanted for little during his childhood. Though not Blooded themselves, his parents were highly respected for their savvy and their merchandise, often selling frivolities and fine wares to various Lords and their Ladies. They built an expansive trading network, and a social one as well. Xanatos from an early age had taken interest in the craftsmanship of their stock, and observed suppliers in their work when he could. He was intelligent and liked to learn and improve his skills. When he was old enough to hold a blade, his parents paid a tutor to teach him fighting skills, though he chose later to take up a hammer when he apprenticed in Smithcraft.
He spent much of his apprenticeship in Fort Weyr, where he learned to make blades for riders and handlers, and buckles for riding straps. Though he had little access to precious metals as a young student, he practiced his jewelry arts using worthless, but pretty, stones and scraps of tin and copper, creating simple bracelets and broaches for the women of the Weyr.
At twenty, he earned his Journeyman's knot and sought to expand his training. With the aid of his parents' funding, he traveled to learn from various masters of the craft, though his greatest skill came to be forging blades. He spent years perfecting his arts under the tutelage of the others, honing his Journeyman skills.
Two Turns past, he turned his eye to Semaca and the potential there. The dangers of the jungle mean that residents need blades, and the pirates are a bounty he hopes to exploit. There's always the need for weapons when you're an outlaw, and the pay isn't bad, though there's always the risk of cutthroat customers.
