FULL APPEARANCE:
Bruno is pretty lanky despite his best efforts to bulk up. He works just as hard as anyone, but still isnt the most strong out there. His hair is a curly and wavy mess, and he has pronounced bags under his eyes. He tends to keep his hood up to try and assure himself of his safety and wears his poncho wherever he goes. He actually has a couple of them, all of them highly similar but different.
His clothes are as clean and as presentable as he can manage, but they are generally patchy and threadbare to most. It's fine since clothing generally isn't his main priority in life.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Bruno is a bit of an odd duck.
He keeps to himself, speaks quickly and quietly, and generally fumbles through life. He's incredibly kind and caring of those around him, but he also has a hard time showing it. His insecurities and paranoia and superstitious attitude can really hinder his ability to make real, genuine connections to those who dont quite understand why he does what he does.
Bruno is a worrier. His head is filled with every bad possible scenario, and his tendency to isolate in order to prevent or hide from said scenario doesnt help people's perception of him. The truth is that Bruno simply took circumstances from his past too far, convinced he's cursed or unlucky. As such, he keeps himself out of the lives of his family, to keep them safe.
Despite his faults, Bruno tries to be brave. He might have to put on a persona to do so, but he has actively tried to change from being a total hermit to a somewhat productive member of his weyr. When pushed, he can indeed do great things, and he always tries to push himself to do so. One of the few things he excels at is seeing the good or the potential in others, especially candidates and younger people. He works extra hard to try and be supportive of those younger than him, to offer the kind of support he never got as a Candidate.

HISTORY:
Bruno's life was not the best.
While he lived a good life for the most part, the trouble began when he was scouted out for Candidacy.
His sisters had big plans for their lives, and while Bruno had ideas of what he wanted for his own life, his family had pushed him to be a possible dragon rider. And of course he caved, how could he not? Everyone had looked so… expectant. So excited for him.
He had done his best.
He had been scouted a bit later in life so he had that going against him. But he still did everything in his power to learn and be a competent candidate. Granted, not to where every waking moment was dedicated to such things. No, he tried his best to learn what he could about other subjects that interested him. Learning about smaller, quieter animals, and how to build and reinforce walls… he had some niche interests compared to other candidates.
Despite this, he was always passed over.
The older he got, the more paranoid he got. What if this was going to end badly? What if his mother disowned or hated him for wasting his life and not going and learning a proper trade? What if, what if, what if?
And when the last egg hatched on the last clutch Bruno could stand for, he'd made up his mind.
He was going to disappear.
He didn't want to disappoint the family. Didn't want to upset them. Didn't want to be seen as the failure of the family.
So he made his plans. He started up conversations with traders, established bonds and friendships and working relationships, and eventually hitched a ride out with one in a nice big herding caravan. He worked for one for a long while, keeping his head down and keeping himself transient so that he would not be found by his family.
And in a way, he was happy.
He liked that he was allowed to just be himself. Allowed to learn how to patch up a wagon or allowed to just do things that had nothing to do with impressing people who constantly watched him and expected him to be The Best Bruno on Pern.
He could just be Bruno.
Granted he still had his flaws.
He made up characters, Hernando and Jorge, who were his fearless and work personas. It helped him keep focus and just distance himself from getting TOO attached to places and people. After all, if he didnt get attached, he wouldn't get to disappoint them, right? Of course, the transient lifestyle couldn't last forever. He was getting older and needed a place to settle. But none of the places he'd been to were ever Quite Right. He just didn't feel like they were good places to hide from his family.
And them he heard about Semeca.
It was perfect. Tropical, rustic, self sufficient for the most part, and a continent away from his family!
The only real way he'd be found out would be if they rode over on dragons. But after some time and saving, he would find a sea route run by very reputable people. Or so he told himself. And while it was longer, it was also much cheaper. And he was fairly friendly and kept to himself, so the crew had no reason to see him as a threat or a target.
It wasn't all roses and klah at Semeca though.
He was still jumpy and frightened through all of the bumps and tumbles Semeca took as a weyr. But he had to constantly remind himself that this was better than being sus'd out by his family. Somehow, that fear outweighed his fear of the spotties hiding in the dense forests and jungles around the weyr.
Had he been a younger man, he'd have never dreamed he would be living out here. But not only was Bruno living, he was thriving.
