PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Alun tends to come off as charismatic when speaking to others, often speaking in a calm, friendly voice. He is all too happy to trade with others. He is all too willing to make bets or deals with other people, but he will usually only do this if he has a distinct advantage, or if the gain is well worth the risk. He is even willing to cheat if it ensures he succeeds. However, he does not like to talk about his past, honestly feeling ashamed of his candidacy turns, and will quickly shut down any questions about who he was before he became a pirate. Along with this, he absolutely hates when people bring up his limp.
He tends to be quite ambitious as well. He plans for the long haul, wanting to accomplish his goals. However, because he plans so far ahead in his goals, he tends to get overwhelmed if something does not go according to his plan or goal. Due to how strictly his plans are made, this leaves him with zero room to correct or change when something happens that's out of his control. He absolutely hates when this happens as well. He is not someone who adjusts very well to change and often finds himself struggling with it a lot more than other people do. He also intends to get very frustrated when he thinks he is unable to complete his goals and can be impatient when awaiting results.

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Minor Cothold
HISTORY: TW: Injury, depression
Alun lived a very happy childhood in his cothold. His parents were well off and he had never want or need for anything. He didn't really have any friends, even though he would play with the other children in the cothold. However, a good reason for this was due to Alun's tendency to cheat in their games in order to win. While his father was no longer around, his mother and step-father often told him stories of the man's bravery when fighting thread. He was even told that it was because of his father's death that his mother, who had aged out of candidacy without impressing, had moved to the minor cothold.
Even as a child, Alun aspired to be a dragonrider, but he knew how unlikely that would be. This, of course, frustrated him to no end. However, one day, this would change. A searcher rider from a nearby weyr arrived and had noticed Alun right off the bat. To hear that he was going to be taken to Ista Weyr to become a candidate was a dream come true. With a quick goodbye to his parents, off he went to start a new chapter of his life at sixteen turns.
Alun was all too happy to study and train to become a candidate. He wanted to be a dragonrider and he had come to the weyr a week before the touching occurred. He was confident that he would become a dragonrider. However, that would not be the case.
One of the dragons that had hatched had been quite hostile and had decided to give Alun a strong bite to the leg. It had been a powerful bite and Alun was quickly overwhelmed from pain. When he awoke, he was horrified to see how scarred his leg had become. However, he also did not give himself time to rest. He would walk around on it, not allowing for his leg to heal properly. Due to this, he caused for a limp to form.
Alun fell into a deep depression as a result. He felt weak and powerless. Things only got worse as he spent two more turns at Ista Weyr and did not impress. He hated it. He felt frustrated and angry to the point that he decided to leave the weyr and returned home. Perhaps he was being impatient, but he hated that something like this had happened. In an attempt to try and comfort her son, his mother bought him a flit egg. Tako became his closest companion, the flit often staying next to him.
Even as a child, Alun knew the stories of the pirates, some being legends and some being stories from those who had encountered them. However, about half a turn after he returned home, he would first encountered a group of them. They had rolled up to the cothold's port and he felt.. drawn towards them. They were their own people and they seemed so free. Perhaps it was that freedom that made joining them so.. fulfilling to Alun.
No one even seemed to judge him for his injury. Alun had felt.. uncomfortable ever since he had returned home. With the pirates, he was able to have a fresh new start.
Eventually, when he was nineteen turns, they arrived in Semaca Weyr. He was all too happy to trade with the weyr and eventually met a pair of wherhandlers, Jetsam and Flotsam. The two were much different than anyone Alun met in Ista and he felt comfortable around them. Along with this, they became his closest allies.
He was admittedly surprised when pirates were being allowed to become candidates and he considered returning to candidacy. However, he decided not to. After all, that was no longer his goal in life.
He had a different goal now.
