The man looks like a sailor through and through. Wojchek is a hard faced man with hair he tries to keep from being unkempt and he does his best to look like a respectable man and keep his beard trimmed. He dresses plainly, in clothes that are easy to move in when on a ship. His hands are roughed and calloused from turns on the sea, and from his woodworking craft. He has a hard stare, and his voice is gruff. His olive skin has seen many turns in the sun, and it shows in the bands of tan on his skin when he bathes.

Wojchek is a man who would be a sailor until the end of his days without hesitation. Being a former first mate, he is a disciplined man who has a commanding air that demands respect when he is in his element. He is a sturdy and steady sailor, and an adequate carpenter, though he will admit he only took up the craft in order to help repair ships when they needed it. He is not a man who suffers a fool and can be strict in how he demands others behave and work, but he does not ask of anyone anything that he is not willing to do himself. Unlike what one may think, he is not prone to overworking himself and knows greatly the value of rest. He can be rather abrasive, his first impressions often being poor and not making him friends. He is a practical man who has various excuses for situations that may seem fanciful, which would make him a killjoy in some situations.
Though he seems like a rough stick in the mud, Wojchek is not always so serious and strict. He knows when to drink with others, when to celebrate. He is kind to children and animals, though he prefers to give most wherhandlers and riders a wide berth, wishing to do little business with them due to believing they are all lofty lords who are fat and lazy, doing only the bare minimum. He is a little more lenient overall with handlers, having grown with a few in the seaside hold he was raised in, but he will be curt and disapproving of riders. He cannot stand them or their beasts.

A summer baby born on a good tide, Wojchek was around ships and sailors from the time he could help his mother gut fish. He was an eager, hardworking child, and was enamored with the ships that his father sailed on. He apprenticed around 12 to a carpenter, wanting to be useful when he was able to go on the seas. His learning was slow, having to split his lessons between working with his mother and whatever time he had left.
At eighteen, and still an apprentice, he was signed on his first ship which was a simple fishing vessel. He would fish during the day, and after the ship came in he would continue his lessons and craft. When journeys were longer and longer, he would try to work on small tasks around the ship to be able to show his mentor when the ship returned. He grew far more familiar with ships the more time he spent on them, and when he properly signed on to the cargo ship The Demeter, he spent longer and longer away from the seahold and from his lessons. He spent his twenties trying to juggle both sailing and his lessons, and soon his sailing was taking precedent.
Wojchek was a born sailor and that was clear. He knew his way around a ship instantly, and his hard working nature and his stern demeanor had him rise through the ranks on the Demeter until he became First Mate, an honor that he held deeply in his heart. It was many turns of sailing and returning before he managed time to properly finish his apprenticeship - at the ripe age of 34. An honor for him, and he wore a simple knot on his more dressy vest that was for some formal occasions. His skills were useful, as he was able to do small repairs on the Demeter when they were at sea.
It was in the Early Summer of his 28th year, 2775, that the Demeter's number was up. A particularly harsh storm whipped over the ocean, and despite how the ship and crew tried to hold their own, the Demeter capsized and Wojchek was swept overboard along with the crew. He lost consciousness. A pirate ship passing fished him out of the water after finding him sprawled out on driftwood. They took him to Lominsa Hold, where he would awaken in a strange land.
