Although it was chilly out, the sun was bright, and that meant it was just warm enough to relax by the lake without freezing. Izumi was still bundled up, of course, but wrapped up as he was by both warm clothes and Xith's body, he was perfectly temperate. "Coming out here was a good idea, huh? It's nice and quiet, and warm in the sun... A nice break from the rest of the weyr."
Mmhmm! Xith hummed in reply. Not that I don't like them, it can just be a lot...
"Aww, I get it. You don't have to apologize," Izumi replied, smiling as he rubbed his Green's nose affectionately. "Everyone needs a break sometimes, even you from me!"
Xith laughed. But I love you! Why would I want a break from you?
"I can be a pain in the ass sometimes..."

Winter was nearing its end, the frigid winds were slowly giving way to the warmth of spring. Though the sun was shining, it was by no means a warm day. Tolerable with some movement and a warm coat, but not the sort of day you could easily lounge outside.
It was a perfect day for a brisk swim.
G'arp was sauntering through the weyrbowl, a towel slung over his shoulder as he approached the lake. Kobeth was walking alongside him, mentally preparing himself for the plunge.
"It's a fine day for a swim. Fine day!" G'arp barked as he arrived at the shore. He nodded to the pair nearby. The dragon wasn't yet fully grown, which meant the pair were weyrlings. Weyrlings that he could still mold into proper riders of Pern. "It'd be a shame to waste it lounging all day. Why don't you join me for a swim? It's good training!"
Only if you would like to! Kobeth called to the pair, himself dreading the icy pool. I'm Kobeth, my rider G'arp. What are your names?

Izumi and Xith blinked in unison at the older rider, not sure if he was serious or not at first. It wasn't frigid, but far too cold to swim yet, right? Right?
"It's, um, a bit cold for that, isn't it?" Izumi replied weakly, trying not to sound as horrified by the idea as he was. This wasn't swimming weather, it was bundle up weather!
O-oh! I'm Xith, and this is my Izumi! It's a pleasure to meet you both! The Green replied to Kobeth with a little chirp. I think we may pass on the swim, it's still cold yet... but maybe once it gets warmer! It do like swimming... When she wasn't at risk of freezing her tail off, that was. At least Izumi seemed to be of a similar mind, which meant they wouldn't be getting in the water. Right?

"It's only cold if you let yourself think it's cold!" G'arp barked at the young pair with a wide grin on his face. "A late winter swim is nothing compared to the penetrating freeze of Between. It's practically refreshing!"
He tossed his shirt aside and pulled one arm across his chest, stretching his shoulder. Bare-chested, his skin was already starting to redden from the cold. Anyone with a sense of survival would not be preparing to dive into the lake, but G'arp had abandoned that troublesome weakness long ago.
It's nice to meet you Izumi, Xith. Kobeth addressed the weyrlings politely. He let out a small chuckle. I don't blame you for being hesitant to join us on a swim!
He leaned forward and lowered his mindvoice. Admittedly I'm not too eager to hop in myself. It sounds downright miserable, but G'arp loves his training exercises.
