[Nox] Diplomacy Is Dead

This was not a meeting that Tuckal wanted to have but here they were. She had read the proposal, to revert the Weyr back to the days of bronzes in control and nothing more. And she was going to reject it wholeheartedly. There was a reason that Pern had moved away from such ideals, and she would be one of those continuing to move.

She set the hide down, looking at Z'osh with a cold expression.

"Absolutely not. No one in their right mind would accept this." If this started a fight, then so be it.

Z'osh cocked his head, grinning at her. "No one my dear Weyrwoman?" The title spilled from his lips as an insult. "I believe you'll find that there are enough behind me to encourage acceptance."

He was deadly calm, and highly confident. Whether Banagher had intended assassination or not, it had worked out well for him and his cause in the end. He may be hurting and covered in bandages, but it was worth it.

"You know this would be easier if you don't fight me, right? This is how it should be. It worked just fine for hundreds of turns" he added.

This was not getting better.

"There are enough in the Weyr who would rather see us move forwards instead of backwards, Weyrleader." She hissed, looking about as venomous as her gold usually felt. She was not going to move without being moved, that was clear enough.

And she did worry that Z'osh had enough people on-hand to do just that.

"Pern has changed, and you must change with it. We're not like a hundred turns ago." She said bitterly.

TW: Transphobia, Misgendering

His grin widened. "Oh yes, Pern has changed," he agreed, but then added, "" But not for the better. Those garnet freaks, woman thinking they can ride Bronze, men thinking they can ride Gold. That gold at Telgar is the worst of all. She claims to be a boy. Who has ever heard of a male Gold?!?" he practically shouted the last line, so great was his ire.

"Change has brought this about. Going back to the old way, the tried and true way, is the obvious answer." he was deadly calm again, his tone even.

Her anger boiled. Tuckal knew that this was what he wanted, to anger her, and it worked. If she could have gone at him with a knife, she would have. And her anger radiated through her bond. Serapheth stirred in her weyr, growling at no one, but her eyes whirled in bright, furious reds.

"Dragons made those choices. Are you going to hold back every lady candidate from standing unless there is a gold egg? Cause distress to hundreds of hatchlings because you can't learn to change with the times?!" This was the easiest angle.

She stood from her desk, her eye bright with her anger. This would not end any better. It was actively getting worse.

Of course not," he scoffed. "There is no reason to prevent perfectly fine fighting dragons from Impressing."

He paused. The idea he had was one that would most definitely have fall out, but he did think it was good for the weyr. He might not have every Traditionalist behind him with it, but enough were into the idea (as far as he thought anyway) that it could work.

"There is a solution that is quite simple." he began " Banish those who don't fit our ideal." he shrugged, then grimaced as the motion caused his injuries pain. "Send them off to other Weyrs. Let Fort run the proper way and be the example for the future."

The suggestion stunned her for a moment, but only a moment.

"Absolutely NOT!"

She almost raised her fist to hit him. She didn't. It would have felt great if she could have.

"We are not banishing our own! Not under your insane criteria of what is 'proper' and what isn't!" Tuckal raged. It wasn't a very dignified sight, but she was not about to be dignified with Z'osh acting this way. She would never even consider such a possibility.

He sneered, "Insane criteria? The vast majority of the Weyr would still remain. The only ones being banished would be undesirables, and even then I'm willing to work with them if they know their place." he was thinking of Barlow and her chimera when he said that, as the rider was very much in his camp and behaved as she was expected to. "In the end, we'd really only be losing at most... " he rattled off the total of the Bronzes with female riders, Garnets, Uniques and Chimeras, It's not that big of a loss."

How could such a number be insignificant? Tuckal would never banish those just for the dragon they impressed, only by their actions. And she would never force candidates like herself back into the egg once they had come from it!

"I suppose your insane plan would banish me as well, leaving you all without a queen." It probably did, and she was not going to stand for it. Z'osh would have to pry the Weyr from Serapheth's cold, dead jaws. Even Diyarth could not fight a queen's will.

"My decision is made, I still reject your proposal."

He grinned wickedly. "No, no, of course you wouldn't be banished. What kind of Weyr would we be without a Queen?"

He cocked his head to the side. "But the Weyr would really be better if we did things my way. I just need you to realize it." he paused, sending the mental signal to Diyarth to pass on. When the dragon acknowledged he did so, Z'osh continued, "Though I have a feeling someone might be...indisposed.. for a little while."

He had come prepared for this of course. He knew Tuckel would never agree on her own. Two large Bronzes simultaneously backwinged to land on Serapheth's ledge, effectively blocking the way out for the Queen. At the same time, two of the guards who has accompanied him to the meeting took up flanking positions on either side of the doorway.

Z'osh crossed his arms over his chest, grimacing again from the pain. "This should give you some time to better think things over"

It hit her like a charging wher.

Serapheth raged, throwing herself at the two bronzes who had descended. But she was small, and there were two of them. USURPERS! She raged to the entire weyr. TRAITORS!

Tuckal also tried to rush the door, but she was not strong.

"You can't do this!"

But Z'osh had.

Z'osh gave her a cocky grin, full of confidence. "Oh yes. I can and I did. Oh, there will be those against it, and those who will fight. But give it time, and I'm sure you'll see things...my way." he said, air miming that he flicked the tip of her nose. He didn't want to actually touch her in any way, for multiple reasons.

He turned on his heel and left without another word, nodding to the guards as they stood.
