The storeroom halls are filled with sleeping bags and blankets, as some of the recently arrived holdless wait for an open room. The weyrfolk are already bunking two or three to a room- where are we going to find more open space?

Melosa peered around the storeroom, her lips tight as she wondered how many more of the Holdless would be allowed into the Weyr. That was the problem, she supposed, with High Reaches being the only place that would accept them; all the Holdless who knew what was going on and wanted to reintegrate into Pernese society had to come here.

"Are there any new children that need to be brought into the creche?" she asked. Not that the creche wasn't crowded enough as well ...
