Melosa hadn't actually expected to win when she'd run for Weyrleader, and from what she understood the election had been a close one. In the end, though, she was now the Junior Weyrleader of High Reaches Weyr, at least until elections came around again. It was slightly surreal, but she was looking forward to trying to improve the Weyr.

She had her own office and everything, but Melosa no sooner had she gotten a good idea of where it was than she had gone over to Jae's office. Jae of Blue Zappath was the Weyrleader; she was just the Junior.

Her children were in the creche without her for the first time ever - just during the day, of course, she still preferred they actually live wit her - but now that she was helping to run the Weyr instead of managing the Weyr's children, she could hardly be with them every moment of the day. It was going to be an adjustment.

She put that out of her head. Knocking firmly, Melosa waited for Jae to answer her door.
