Even dragons and whers haven't been immune to the poisoning, but they're eating freshly-killed herdbeasts. What gives? Surely the source must be somewhere around the herdbeast pens.

"If there's anything here, I would have seen it!" Rania complained, unaware that this might in fact label her as suspicious. The fact that somebody would assume somebody would have gotten into the herdbeast pens ... Jeez! Was High Reaches going to start thrusting her craftsmen into lockdown to narrow suspicion? "Nobody gets past me or Niaajisk!"

No here all day, Rania, grumbled the big bronze. He was pacing back and forth between the pen's wide gates. Swirling red orbs contained an angst and irritation that Rania couldn't even begin to fathom. He radiated such an irritation that Lizarnardo vacated to his own little den somewhere out of sight. When sleeping, maybe. Or squad duty. Use head.

"I am using my head! Just ... " She buried her face in her hands, groaning hard into her palms. "[Faranth this implies it's one of us beastcrafters, doesn't it? Calm down, Rania, nobody is passing blame," she whispered to herself. The girl gave her own face a gentle slap. She took a deep breath. "Forsk. Let's start again. Okay. Flowers, maybe. Could it have been something the herdbeasts ate ... yeah. Right. Okay. Let's start there. Check the feed bins. Look for foot prints. If anything smells the least bit off ... Dung! Look at the dung!"

While Niaajisk prowled with his muzzle to the earth, Rania began to ... unceremoniously sort through the several pies of beast shit for bits of excrement that looked out of the ordinary. She didn't use her hands! She wasn't some kind of brute! There was at least a stick in her hands!
