Spring had sprung! Oh, certainly early spring in High Reaches wasn't warm, not objectively, but it was notably warmer than the frigid winter. And it seemed like things might actually be improving a little. At least Lavanya and Kinlath weren't afraid to eat, and she didn't think anyone else was either. She hoped not, anyway.
The first blooms were starting to scatter themselves across the weyrbowl, and the grass was coming in soft and plush. Lavanya grinned as Kinlath rolled in it, trilling cheerfully; happy - content - sunwarm came off of him in waves.
"I think things are starting to settle some," Lavanya observed idly, smiling at her dragon. He was thirteen now, fourteen next season, and she could hardly believe they'd been a part of each other so long. "And spring's always such a relief after those hard winters."
She flopped onto the grass herself, leaning back on her hands and smiling as the sun warmed both of them. It was beautiful, and she was feeling quite optimistic about the future.
