The heat of early summer held oppressively over the acres of High Reaches and the surrounding mountains. Even at the high elevation, it was starting to get properly hot for the season. Shr'k was thankful that today the wing was flying drills above the weyr. It was cooler in the sky, and the wind whipping at his face was a sweet relief from the sweltering sun.

The riders were taking a short break between drill sets on the rocky outcroppings near the weyr. Shr'k chewed on some cured meat he had packed in a satchel, while Donketh eyed the pair sitting near them.

I'mma do it today Shr'k. I'mma talk to that fine-looking gold today."

Donketh, leave them alone. Can't we just enjoy the break by ourselves?[i] Shr'k pleaded with his bonded. [i]Nice and quiet like?

Nah, I've been wanting to chat up that gold for SEASONS now. Today's the day. The bronze got up from his lounging position and swaggered over to the gold and her rider.

Hey there! You're Galdenath, right? He asked the other dragon, putting on maximum schmooze. I'm Donketh, that's my rider, Shr'k. You got some fancy moves out there. I've never seen a gold fly quite as graceful and beautifully as you do.

From behind Donketh, Shr'k rolled his eyes.

The goldpair was quite thankful for the break. Where Galdeneth was happy that she would get a second to rest her wings, doing her best to avoid any strains, Zagreus was taking the time to get some sun tanning in. Despite being paler than a ghost on a good day, he wasn't likely to burn. So, when they'd stopped, he'd found the most comfortable sunny spot to lay down on- which just so happened to be on top of Galdeneth- and relaxed.

It's so nice out today, Zag said, stretching a little. If they stayed here doing nothing for any longer, he might just take a nap.

Your eyes are closed, rider mine. You can't even see how nice it is.

I saw it earlier! Hard to miss the... 'everything around you' when you're however many feet in the air.

The gold looked around, enjoying the view from the outcropping they had stopped at. No matter how many times she saw it, the view around High Reaches just did not get old. Of course, she was drawn out of her thoughts by a voice. She turned to see another dragon, a bronze, who had approached her and her rider.

Hm? Yes, that's right. Pleased to make your acquaintance. She spoke softly. Oh! You, um... shoot, what's the word... you flatter me! Ha ha, yes. You flatter me, Donketh. You flew very well out there as well, don't sell yourself short!

Donketh pawed the ground, playing a bashful angle.Ah, you're just saying that. I could never fly like you did. Like the finest Harper ballad made into flesh!

"Feel free to ignore him," Shr'k called out from behind Donketh. He wasn't going to sit here and watch his bonded strike out in such a painfully obvious way. Better to try and cut this whole interaction short before Donketh would get his feelings hurt. "He's full of hot air. Too much firestone, it's vaporized his brain."

C'mon Shr'k, let me cook here. I'm a fine specimen of a dragon, even if I've got a gross ogre of a rider.

Shr'k snorted and ate a piece of the jerky he had packed. Might as well enjoy a snack with the show.
