Love is a dagger
It's a weapon to be wielded far away, or up close
It's beautiful - you can see yourself in it
Until it makes you bleed
But ultimately when you reach for it...
It isn't real

FULL APPEARANCE:
Loki is tall, thin, and elegant. His fingers are long, as are his feet. To be honest, he sort of looks...weaselly. His blue eyes are too pale to be piercing, and his dark hair is often slicked back in a rather unflattering style. His clothes are too feminine to be truly masculine, but too masculine to be truly feminine. And, honestly? That's by design. His mother, long his best advisor, cautioned that he could not expect the common folk of Asgard to keep up with his whims. That's that they were, whims. So he adjusted his style, a little at a time, so that it was easy to cater to his gender presentation.
The easiest way to tell how he's feeling is to look at his hands. His rings don't change, but what finger they go on do. It's only noticeable under extreme scrutiny, and long periods of observation. His mannerisms rarely change, although his language might.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Trickster. Troublemaker. Manipulative. Evil.
These are all words that describe Loki, but none of them hold the full picture. He's a brilliant strategist, usually several moves ahead of his competition. He has a half dozen schemes in the works at any particular time, some of them seeming to contradict each other. It all part of a master plan. He thinks.
Loki's highest priority is himself, and that's never been more true than in the time directly after Odin passed him over. He's selfish, but mostly because he feels like he's the only one looking out for his own interests. He causes trouble because as a child he needed something to do. And with a brother who had as many impulse control issues as Thor, Loki had plenty of opportunity to make mischief. It's usually small stuff, but he has a particular fondness for knives.
And stabbing. He's always got a knife up his sleeve, and has zero qualms about using it to get his way. Does he go out terrorizing people for kicks? No. But he is also not the kind to ask permission, or forgiveness. He has an agenda, thank you very much, and he will forge his own path.

HISTORY:
Loki's story begins in tragedy.
Lord Odin of Asgard and his daughter Hela were unstoppable conquerors. They mostly targeted other small holds, and so escaped the notice of the weyrs and larger holds. One of these small holds was Jotunheim, led by Lord Laufey. The only survivor of this conflict was wee tot, still swaddled in his crib. Odin would never admit to his reasoning behind taking the child, whether it be to present his Lady with a child, or a political prisoner. Whatever the reason, Odin brought little Loki home to Asgard. Frigga took him in, and raised him alongside her own son Thor.
Neither Loki nor Thor ever met Hela. She was banished from Asgard before they could form conscious memories of their older sister.
Thor and Loki were as thick as thieves growing up. Never one without the other, big boisterous Thor with his dark little shadow. The only time the two were not united in something was when Loki Impressed a bronze fire lizard. Being rather fed up with pronouns at the time, he named his bronze after a female character in a Harper's tale, and used traditionally feminine pronouns for her. To everyone else's surprise, the bronze took on a marked preference for her pronouns. The fact that she never Flew didn't faze Loki in the least.
Loki was a manipulator who preferred to be behind the scenes. He was Frigga's favorite, and it stung immensely when Odin chose Thor as his heir. Shortly after that was the first time Loki learned that he was not the trueborn son of Frigga, but the unwanted abomination of an enemy hold.
In the wake of such a realization, well, it didn't go well.
Loki had long been the voice of reason for his more headstrong brother. He turned from his brother in a time of need, letting Thor, Sif, and the Warriors Three attack an enclave of holdless. In a bid for the Hold, he counseled his father to banish Thor in a measure to keep the peace. In a bid to separate father and son, he counseled Thor to go to High Reaches Weyr.
Some time later, with Loki firmly on the path to be announced as Odin's heir, he went to High Reaches Weyr himself to shore up relations with the weyr. He didn't find his brother, which he is unexpectedly disappointed by.
