FULL APPEARANCE:
Elani is an attractive woman, possessing an average height and a slim build. Blonde hair frames a thin face, and warm brownish-green eyes observe Pern's delights and others alike. Regarding her wardrobe, Elani prefers clothing that accentuates her natural curvature and portrays her physical traits best; slim boots, often alongside sturdy leggings and a flowing blouse.

Elani is rather pleasant and sociable, approaching everything possessing an immense "go get 'em" attitude. It's rare that she has something unpleasant to say to your face...but she won't hesitate to kick you once you're down and use dirty tricks to keep herself and her loved ones on top. Always concerned about doing her best - often for herself or her loved ones - and looking her best while she's at it, Elani rarely sits still; she's always doing something...or someone. It's no secret that Elani enjoys attention and often seeks it out.

Something in Elani is convinced that everyone is untrustworthy; that she can rely on no-one but herself or her dragon. Reckless, impulsive, and confrontational, Elani won't hesitate to initiate or finish a fight she's confident she can win, particularly for a good reason. But once her luck turns, Elani is more inclined to run from a brewing conflict than stay and finish what she started, leaving others to clean up her messes. But Elani isn't all self-centered and self-absorbed. Absolutely intolerant to bullies or those crazy on power, she sees herself as a defender for those who cannot defend themselves against such individuals.

Elani is devoted to her daughter, no matter what. So long as her child is safe and happy, that's all she gives a shard about. Elani could pass someone in dire need and not regret it for a second, in order to prioritize her daughter. And should someone or something threaten her kid, Elani will protect her at all costs; she will slander someone's name into dust, turn friends on each other, or even pit dragon against dragon. Well...not to that extent, perhaps. Close to Elani's heart is her Averodith. Never would she even think to do something that could endanger her beloved garnet.

Elani was born to a simple housewife and her new husband, firsborn in this new union. All her Turns, she thought she was daughter to this boorish man, and grew to resent and dislike him. What she wanted lay beyond those fields outside her bedroom window; she wanted adventure, to forge her own daring tale. As ties between Elani and her father grew even more volatile as Elani grew older, her mother pulled her aside to tell her something she should've so long ago: Elani wasn't this farmer's daughter, but she was rather sired by another man from a passing fling, before her mother "got her head on straight" and decided to settle down with her farmer. Elani didn't bother to say a word before she left, aged 19; she would get her adventure, by Faranth!

At last, Elani could begin her life! After so long spent on that wretched farm, she had a whole world to see. Settling in a distant Minor Hold in Benden Province, she lived as she pleased, and had little thought for consequence or doubt. It was a strange day for Elani, that day that a dragon swooped from Benden Weyr and decided she was a worthy Candidate. While she almost refused, Elani accepted; it was another step in her adventure. Gathering what belongings she'd collected, she went to Benden Weyr for Candidacy.

For Turns, Elani was passed up, until a garnet eased her way from her shell and wandered to Elani's feet. Averodith was hers, and she was here to stay; she would be that constant that Elani had been missing for so long, after so long spent searching for that something that she'd never found. Weyrlinghood was an adventure and a half, learning all she needed to care for her growing garnet, both graduating in fine form. Shortly after graduation, she came to be pregnant from flightlust and later had her child; a daughter she named Mabelani. Elani promptly placed her in Benden's creche, though she insisted on staying close; Mabel wouldn't forget her mother.

In several Turns, Elani did so much; she fought Thread and she made friends and enemies alike. But once word got out that Benden had both imprisoned and tortured a queen and that her very own Averodith was a daughter to said gold, not to Benden's senior queen, as she'd been told? While Averodith might forget, as dragons were wont to do, Elani couldn't, nor wouldn't, forget. Benden had proven untrustworthy; bullies and tyrants mad on power. Gathering up her belongings and her daughter, Elani was determined to get this Alayna and Wyzeth's perspective...and get as far from forsking Benden as she could.

Elani and Averodith transferred to Semaca as soon as possible, once all was safe for Elani's children to leave as well. No way in hell would she leave her children behind, not in that place. Selecting Mazurka Squad so as to continue her adventure, Elani has since spent her days around her duties putting down shallow roots...so she might not fear needing to uproot them to flee again, should a need arise. Benden called themselves a Weyr, all while committing atrocities against a gold and her bonded. What's to say that a new Weyr like Semaca couldn't stoop so low, one day? Better to be safe than sorry.

Averodith is small, even for a garnet, though her wings boast a broader span in comparison to her other proportions. Rather dainty and delicate in her movements, she denotes grace and poise in every interaction. In regard to her coloration, Averodith is stunning; she stands from a crowd, wearing such a bold coat. Though her wings and upper body are a warm lilac hue, pale pink "lightning" runs down her entire body, from face to tail, separating this rich paler purple from her lower body's dark burgundy color.

Averodith is as beautiful and graceful in mind as she is in body. Rather intelligent and even wise for a dragon, she is very keen to humans and attuned to what they need and want, even those who are not her bonded. Averodith understands that some find comfort in material objects, like her bonded, and she often encourages others to utilize such comforts and to appreciate what they have. Even she, a dragon, appreciates a pretty stone or a beautiful flower. It's rather difficult for Averodith to see someone go unappreciated or unloved. In such a case, she is here, ready to be that presence that's been missing. Similarly, she often wishes to direct others to show appreciation, so that no-one feels an accomplishment goes unpraised. Above all, she wants to help, no matter what she needs to do to help. But on occasion, her help is so overbearing and insistent that she can be more bother than benefit.

To her bonded, Averodith is an absolute loving and doting partner. Very sweet and attentive, she's always present and ready to help. Always, she will be a light burning against darkness...and a fierce storm to rattle Pern to its core, as needed. Despite her wisdom and charm, she's rather innocent to much of Pern's hardships, other than Thread, her natural enemy. Elani has seen much, while Averodith hasn't often left her Weyr. Together, they venture forth to new horizons. Despite this, she'd be a fine Searchdragon, attentive and attuned to humans as she's wont to be. But Averodith has a matchmaking streak to her, often meddling about humans' romantic affairs in her efforts to help. Yet she, like her bonded, often flaunts her physical attributes, enjoying what attention she garners. Averodith is rather fond of children and enjoys being near them, but she's particularly soft for Elani's children.

-The math on these ages doesn't add up. Averodith is 9 turns old, with a canonical hatching date that can't be changed. The maximum age for a candidate at that time was 25, which means Elani can be at most 34. I would advise just picking a green blank for her, who hatched at a point she would still have been eligible to stand. Garnets did not start hatching until 2760, when Elani would have already aged out of candidacy.

-"Unless provoked into an immense emotional response, Elani is more inclined to run from a brewing conflict than stay and fight; certain situations spur her to stay, but it's her first instinct to flee and keep herself far from sight before a dam breaks. Reckless, impulsive, and confrontational, Elani won't hesitate to initiate or finish a fight she's confident she can win, particularly for a good reason."

This part of her personality is a bit contradictory: Is she impulsive or is she calculating and runs when she knows she won't win? Either angle is fine- you just need to pick one and stick with it or better clarify how both could be true.

-You must identify for staff who her biological father is, even if she doesn't know it. He doesn't need a name, but staff needs to know the basics.

-Pern does not have wandering adventurers. The only people who travel regularly during threadfall are traders or the holdless. Elani would not have a way of getting food or other supplies and traveling constantly during threadfall alone is not feasible. Staff has vetoed this sort of backstory frequently before and we're going to do the same here.

-Searchriders do not Search pregnant women. Candidates who get pregnant are required to take a break from candidacy. It wouldn't make sense to Search someone who couldn't start standing for months.
