FULL APPEARANCE: Augury is frail and delicate and has been since she was a child. She can't run as fast or work as long as other women can and gets sick more often than other people. She sometimes has trouble breathing if she pushes too hard. Which isn't to say Augury is incapable of work. Augury has mild asthma and a weak immune system but is healthy enough to do her job as a rider and most of the domestic chores around the weyr. She'll simply never be able to run like a Runner or to spend a lot of time in a smith's forge without struggling for breath.
Her skin is very pale, couple with dark hair and eyes and features that are quite lovely in a refined sort of way. She favors dresses when not in riding leathers as it's not like she could just run and run and run anyway, much as she sometimes wishes she could.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Augury is a quiet, polite, focused girl. Her well-rehearsed manners still hold sway and her courtesy is impeccable. She works hard and pays attention to what she's told and tries very, very hard to make up for the fact that she's not the strongest or most durable of riders. She enjoys reading and is willing to take on extra light work where she has the time, whether sewing or paperwork, and is quite good at such things.
But beneath it all...she yearns for many things. She wishes she could run all the way to the horizon. Climb the mountains to their very peak. See all of Pern and do great things. Augury is a girl with dreams and wishes that seem impossible. And while she is prone to resignedly blaming them on her health...the truth is, she simply dreams too big. Nobody could swim all the way across the sea. Augury tends to forget that everybody has limits. And she gets frustrated when reminded of her own. She gets irritated when she feels she is being coddled and struggles to separate general care for a member of the weyr from accusations of things she cannot do.
Augury is highly introverted. She tends to keep most of her feelings to herself, always pleasant and polite on the outside. When she does blow up, she crashes her as all her suppressed emotions come surging out.

HISTORY: Augury's mother died in childbirth, as sometimes happens even to healer's wives, so for much of Augury's life, it was just her and her dad and she didn't know or really wish for anything else. Auron was a brilliant and well-respected healer who brought his daughter up in idle luxury. She was fragile and delicate and precious and needed to be protected. She was allowed to leave home only for mandatory things like Harper lessons and was forbidden from doing anything too demanding.
Augury quietly resented the excessive coddling. She was never able to go play with the other children or apprentice in a craft or do any of the things children did. She loved her dad deeply and knew he loved her but she also wanted to live her own life and be more than just Auron's daughter.
So when the Searchriders saw something in her, she agreed to go, despite her father's pleas. And found that she could do a lot more than she'd thought. It was a good life at Fort Weyr and it only got better when she found her dragon, blue Velveth. She's still in touch with her father and still loves him very much, but also wishes he'd worry just a little less and refuses to give into his urgings to join the Healers wing. Augury is not a healer. And she would very much like to fight.
