FULL APPEARANCE:
Hermione is lovely, in an understated, classic sort of way. She doesn't do much to show it, though. She moves briskly when she's not walking with her nose in a book and wears conservative clothes. Her face is expressive and her gaze often drifts, as if she's lost in her own thoughts. She's of average height and has pale skin that's often freckled by the Semaca sun. Her fingers seem perpetually stained with a bit of ink, that sometimes ends up on her cheeks as well.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Hermione knows many things. And she wants to make sure everyone knows she knows many things. Yes, she's a know-it-all and okay with that. Better to be a know-it-all than a know-nothing and if someone's wrong about something, she's going to correct them, even if they're nominally in charge of her. She has a wide breadth and depth of knowledge and can generally be found with her nose in a book. She's more than a bit of a teacher's pet and tends to be a stickler for following the rules. She tries hard at everything she does, from her studies to her chores, and will push herself to the breaking point before admitting she can't do it or that she needs help. She has little patience for incompetence from herself or others but is always willing to teach others how to do better.
That said, Hermione is not an academic robot. She is also a woman with deep beliefs, who wants fairness and freedom and justice for everyone. She supports increased respect and rights for drudges and the holdless and equality for riders of all colors. She thinks the advantages enjoyed by Blooded holders are unfair and that everyone should fail and succeed on their own merits. She means well and has a good heart but can get a bit preachy and doesn't always understand why others don't care as much as she does.
Hermione isn't particularly quick to make friends, but she is loyal to the ones she has and can be surprisingly sweet and even brave when you get past the surface. There's not much she wouldn't do for the people she cares about. She can have a bit of a temper when pushed and has little tolerance for bullies. She is willing to resort to violence when necessary although it's not her preference.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Father: Hermon, healer, Harperhall
Mother: Nione, drudge, Harperhall
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Harperhall
HISTORY: Hermione had undistinguished beginnings. Her father was a healer of no particular talent and her mother a common drudge. There were rumors her mother had holdless in her bloodline, but the truth of that is likely lost to history.
But regardless of her origins, she started to make a name for herself the day she entered her first Harper class. Brilliant and hard-working, Hermione quickly pulled ahead of most others in her age-group. Sure, there were a few whispers and a few snobs never forgot that she'd been born to nobodies and was a somewhat funny-looking, bushy-haired, bucktoothed child, but she didn't let it bother her. She had a few friends and they only whispered because she was WINNING.
She apprenticed as a scribe as soon as she was able, at the age of eight, and continued to excel. She was one of the first of her class to walk the tables at eighteen turns old, and had ambitions to become a Master. She spent her days studying and working and dedicated towards that goal.
That changed when she was 23. A passing rider from Semaca weyr mentioned she had the potential to be a Candidate. After some hard thinking, Hermione decided to do something brave for a change and take the chance to do something more meaningful than write about other people's adventures. She accepted the Search and went down to Semaca, to see where her path would lead.
