PLAY-BY: Dianna Agron
FULL APPEARANCE: Aw? Who's this precious little flower? Even as an adult, Arena is adorable, with delicate features, long blonde hair and wide eyes. She's easily mistaken for a teenager and her height certainly doesn't help. There's usually a certain absentmindedness to her expression as if she's lost in thought and it's not uncommon for Arena to bump into things or suddenly trip over thin air. She favors short dress and loose pants in soft fabric and never wears leather except when on the hatching sands.
PERSONALITY
TW: Mild depression
PERSONALITY: The first thing you need to know about Arena? Dragons, she loves them to the point of obsession. She voraciously devours any information about dragons she can find and can tell you the name of any dragon in the weyr or the exact velocity of the average green flight. She's less fond of their riders. Nobody, in her mind, is ever good enough and she can't understand why a dragon would pick all these people who leave them alone and sometimes let them sleep by themselves when they're hurt and get them into careless accidents over her. Anything even mildly related to dragons holds her interest. She has a huge collection of egg shards under her bed and can name every dragon in the weyr.
It's not just dragons Arena loves, although they are the objects of her greatest obsession. She likes animals in general, all animals. For that reason, she doesn't eat meat or wear leather. People, on the other hand, confuse her. She doesn't understand why they don't want to hear the details of wherry mating or the proper temperature of hatching sands. She tends to be shy not because she dislikes all people per say, but because she knows she doesn't understand them and they don't understand her. It's just easier to stick to her dragons and her scrolls.
Arena can be a bit reckless especially when there are animals involved. She doesn't really think they'd ever hurt her and forgets that they are wild things. Her best friend is Oscamith and she dotes on him and thinks he's the best dragon on Pern. She is very loyal to Semaca and to the healers. While she may often get into trouble on her own time, she'll be there when they need her. Even if it means boiling numbweed and fetching klah.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Leena, Sarah (deceased), several other biological siblings, parents
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
TW: Death
HISTORY: From the day Arena was born, she dreamed of dragons. Her parents were riders, who loved her and cosseted her, although she grew up in the creche alongside her siblings. She discovered her love of all things draconic early, but nobody thought anything of it. She was a weyrchild. They all loved dragons.
She grew up surrounded by siblings. One of the oldest, Sarah, was always leading the lot of them into trouble and sometimes Arena would tag along, but other days she preferred to stay behind and read. About dragons of course, always dragons. She attended every hatching and from the time she was 8, hoped one of the dragons would pick her out from the stands, the way they sometimes did. But they didn't, so at 15, she became an official candidate. And when she had to choose a craft? Dragon healing, obviously. She loved dragons. Why wouldn't she want to take care of them anyway she could?
And was left standing, turn after turn. Leena Impressed, Sarah Impressed, even her younger brother Impressed, but there was no dragon for her. And then Sarah died, killed by bandits. Arena mourned her. But unlike her sister Leena, she didn't blame her weyrmate Danielle and was happy to mourn besides her and give and take comfort where she could. However, ever since that event, she's maintained a distrust of the holdless and no longer travels outside the weyr alone.
Still she continued to Stand. She reached journeyman in her chosen craft and still no dragon. So finally, she decided to do something about it. She moved to Semaca, not really knowing anything about it beyond the fact it was a new weyr and a new weyr must not have as many candidates. And if there weren't as many candidates, a dragon would have to pick her, right? And if it doesn't work and she ages out? She'll go to High Reaches, where they've raised the candidacy age. If she's left alone? Whers maybe. But she tries not to think about that. Because she could not imagine a worse fate than never knowing a dragon's mind on hers.
UPDATES

- Early Fall 2765- Arena is left standing again at the hatching of the mystery gold egg. She gets a new pet kitten, courtesy of Re'laur and names it Spots in an effort to shake the nickname. She starts seeing a Mindhealer.
- Late Spring 2766- Arena finally Impresses to a
voidgarnet named Oscamith. His mother, gold Nuuth rejects him, prompting a bit of a scuffle on the sands as Semaca's dragons come to Oscamith's defense. Blue Nephthyth decides to adopt him and both Arena and Oscamith accept her as his true mother.
