PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
War shapes everyone differently, and it shaped N'vah into an independent and strong woman. Full of life and spirit, she won't hesitate to place herself in harm's way to shield others. In her eyes, her responsibilities as a dragonrider and Healer are most important; politics hold little interest for her, unless they threaten those who are vulnerable and defenseless. Very much a knight in shining armor type, she's more than willing to launch a one-woman army assault for what she thinks is right. Those who'd look down at her for being a woman are in for quite a surprise, for there's nothing else that gets N'vah angrier than assumptions being made that she is suited for nothing more than needlework and housekeeping; Ghnadunth proved she was more than worthy of so much more.
N'vah is a woman of immense stubborn nature. Once she decides her path, she will walk it, and no one shall stop her or sway her. Those in places of authority will find N'vah one who will refuse to obey unquestioningly. In her element in Healing, she is levelheaded and calm even in face of terrible news and great hardship. Intelligent and gifted in sense, she's witty and quick to retort to whoever would engage her, not to mention blunt and straightforward in serious conversation. Rather resistant to being restricted or told "no," she is one who would be free to do as she wishes. A woman who is more than happy to step up into a position of command, she won't hesitate to do what is necessary for others and what she feels is right.

BIRTHPLACE: A small cothold near Campbell's Field
HISTORY: TW: death & loss, Golre's war
Niamh was a normal little girl, born to fisher-folk in a cothold near Campbell's Field. One rainy season, unusual for cold and dry Telgar, a flood washed in, and it was sheer luck that she survived. Sadly, her parents were among those swept away, busily fishing, unaware of what dangers awaited them that day. Niamh was too young to remember much of them, and so easily bonded to her new guardian, her uncle, once he'd arrived to claim responsibility of her and brought her to his Harper Hall in Telgar Hold. Though she was yet young to begin Apprenticeship, she observed her uncle, a Master in his Craft, and began to prepare for her life pursuing scholarly greatness as a Harper. Such tenacity she displayed, her uncle called her "Nevah" in amusment, for she would "nevah give up" once she found something of interest. It was a nickname that stuck, and one Nimah enjoyed very much.
Golre had been ruling for Turns before Nimah was even born, in a province far away, but it was her actions of such violence in declaring war and pitting dragon against dragon that set Nimah on her path of healing. Hearing about innocents injured needlessly, caught in crossfire for a mad Weyrwoman's glory, spurred a young teenaged Nimah to march up to her uncle and state her intent to walk a path other than that of a Harper; she would be a Healer. Though surprised, given her talent and apparent interest in Harper studies, he agreed and aided his niece in her decision. A resident Master Healer in Telgar Hold took Nimah under her tutelage, and her official Apprenticeship began. Nimah dove into her studies, even as her heart twisted in sympathy and pain for those who'd lives had been destroyed by Golre and her followers, as rumor and gossip flew from affected areas faster than a dragon could fly. From this bloomed an immense distaste for war and those who'd started it, leading her to swear herself against dragonriders and what they call "duty and honor."
It was in Nimah's twenty-first Turn that Golre fell, and she was among those who openly rejoiced. No more would die to her orders to pillage and destroy those in her Weyr's province; though Nimah's childhood was colored by terrible tales, she could rest secure in knowing that children that came after her would not need hear of such tragedy and almost experience it. At last, an Apprenticeship that was born in war would rise to Journeyman in peace. But destiny had other plans for her. Telgar Weyr needed Candidates, and so they went Searching, and found Nimah, among others. Immediately, she thought to refuse. So much suffering had been brought forth from High Reaches Weyr; suffering she had wanted to stem by learning to Heal. What made Telgar different, though they had not stood alongside Fort, as Benden had? But she was persuaded to reconsider by peers and teachers alike, though those Searching her were smart enough to keep quiet and let her think. It took a long few hours, but Nimah found her Searchers and accepted. Perhaps she'd give Telgar a chance...
Time was against her. At twenty one, she was nearing aging out before she'd even begun. While she was suspicious of this Weyr, as all Weyrs, she slowly grew to realize that Telgar did not deserve her hatred. Ready to give her all, she studied hard to be a good Candidate. And her efforts paid off. A season before she was to age out, a bronze emerged from his shell, studied what Candidates were presented him, and strode straight to a determined Nimah. Ghnadunth was a more than worthy companion, and N'vah was proud to be among female bronzeriders that grew steadily in number. Weyrlinghood was tumultuous, but N'vah and Ghnadunth graduated honorably into Telgar's Healer's Wing, where they'd worked since. But Turns passed, giving High Reaches much to worry about. Aldoeith and her golden daughter Galdeneth happened. Eggs stolen from Fort happened, followed by blame being pointed at High Reaches. Thread happened. So much happened.
Had High Reaches changed in truth, they'd need new blood, willing spirits, and able hands to help keep progress going. Ghnadunth agreed, and they put in for transfer. High Reaches wasn't under Golre's command. So long as N'vah and Ghnadunth were involved, she wouldn't fall under similar influence. Never again.
