FULL APPEARANCE: The first detail one would notice is the remarkably rich golden forehead. It sharply dips into a dark cocoa from chin to headknobs an races along the upper half of his body like a racing stripe - a pattern that continues with hindquarters. A heavy portion of his wings remain this chocolately color, tapering gradually to that deep golden the closer to the wingtips they get. The rest of his body is coated in hearty caramel.

PERSONALITY:[/quote] Rollo is a cuddlebug. He is dependent, and lovely, and just ... cozy as he nestled against your chin while you sleep. He's a momma's boy, there's no question about that! And Faranth forbid if Kiba ignores him for too long!

-Overarching comment: Apprentices at the weyr are able to start later than at crafthalls. 16 years old is not too late to start an apprenticeship as a healer at a weyr. It does not make sense, however, for her to be starting an apprenticeship and becoming a wher candidate, as her crafting training would stop once she Impressed since wherhandlers are not usually placed in Healer's Wing. Please pick an angle for her to pursue for her future. Wherhandlers would also have played a role in searching for and rescuing people after the mudslide so a similar justification could easily be invoked for her deciding to become a wherhandlr.

-This PB does not look 16 year old. Staff has decided we're not going to allow a 16 year old to look like an adult. Please select an appropriate PB for her age- or use a pic crew or no PB for now.

-16 is too young for wher candidacy. Wher candidates must be at least 17.

-Growing healing herbs is a specialized skill and not something Kiba could pick up without any training.

-Please flesh out Kiba's personality a bit. What is she like, outside the impacts the mudslide had on her?

-Kiba's phobia needs to be substantially toned down. As written, it does not make sense for her to stay in the weyr and try to become a wherhandler, which would involve a lot of time spent indoors, in essentially closed in caves. One justification could be having her pass out after being buried, so she does not remember the full trauma. It's alright if sometimes her heart beats a bit faster but if she is struggling so much, her and her brother both would have been advised to go to a cothold or to Semaca, where she would not have to spend as much time inside. Her brother seems to care about her a lot and doesn't seem like the sort of person who would want to stay somewhere she is suffering. Kiba would not have been allowed to become a candidate if she is having so much trouble in her day to day life.

-Crafthalls are scattered throughout Pern. Travel between them is difficult and Kiba would not be able to meander from one to another. Kiba is not obligated to chose a craft and be a crafter. Most of Pern is not craft trained. If she doesn't have the passion to apprentice to any particular craft, she would not have been expected to do so.

-Weavercraft Hall was not destroyed in the mudslide. The mudslide only destroyed High Reaches Hold.

-Kiba would not be allowed to follow her brother on patrol. He needs to focus on his guard duty. She would have her own responsibilities and having a civilian along could be dangerous for them both if they run into trouble.

-You use two different names for Kiba's firelizard. Is his name Tangeream or Rollo?

Kiba would not be able to move meetings or gatherings outdoors. Most healing is done inside, in the infirmary. As a healer, she would need to be able to handle that sometimes crowded environment without being distracted by it, as healers do delicate work. If being indoors is a constant mental load, she should consider farmcrafting focused on healing herbs or being a beastcrafter instead, which would allow her to work primarily outdoors.

-"She is soft-spoken and gentle, eagerly helping those who are having troubles grasping certain things - and having the patience to cope with their failings and work them through it. Her bedside manners help earn the confidence of her patients."

You cannot determine how other people, including Kiba's patients, will react to her, as they may be other PCs.

-"Because Kiba is so diligent to excel at the healing arts, she often stays awake late in the night to study techniques and freshen up on 'symptoms of this' and 'remedies for that'. The lines between Healer life and actual, well, life blur for her - so much so that the mending of her clothes is done in the style of medical suturing. She fixates a little too much on 'what if' scenarios (a plague? a bloodborne disease? what if we run out of this herb before the next growing season?). This 'obsession' is a safety blanket. Throwing mental exercises at her brain and looking for possible solutions has become one of her coping mechanisms with the loss of her family and Hold."

Kiba is a very junior apprentice, who was a woman raised in weaverhall long before she started her healer training. At this point, she would be assisting in minor treatments, preparing bandages, attending basic lessons, etc. She would not have the knowledge or the skills to immerse herself this far in healing. Staff would also like to see her not be entirely defined by what she's been through- It can have an effect on her without being everything she is in every aspect of her life. People are more than their traumas. Mori and Ke'ro are good examples of how you can strike the balance of letting a character's traumas impact them without overwhelming the rest of what makes them interesting.

-"But Kiba? She was undecided, and tended to meander between the Halls with curiosity about all but dedication to none. Izunuka and Akamaru had wishes for both of their children to inherit the craft, but with Kiba aging too quickly and fast approaching the age where she would no longer be eligible to walk the tables for any Hall, they were left suggesting other opportunities for her to take on. Nothing seemed to stick. She was wayward - and would remain so, it seemed, for a long time."

As I pointed out in my prior review, Pernese children are not required or expected to become crafters and the halls are too not place she could wander between.

Not everyone at High Reaches Hold died. Not even a majority of the hold did. While there were a few casualties, there are a large number of other survivors.

That would mean leaving Saori, her only remaining family. Unwilling to part ways, the white wherhandler suggested they go to Semaca Weyr together - as it was much more out in the open than the claustrophobic halls of High Reaches. But doing so would separate them from the ruins of High Reaches Hold. Parting from the burial grounds of her family was ... harsh. In many ways, Kiba felt she would be turning her back on her family's legacy. They could return to Weavercraft Hall, maybe? Rebuild? No, the idea of digging through the muk was like ... gravedigging. Maybe in the future, when she had time to cope. Not now.

She sought aid from the resident Healers. Although mindhealing wasn't something that was specialized, following in their footsteps and learning their ways helped stuff some of her skeletons into a closet. The more she learned, the more useful she felt. The more useful she felt, the less survivor's guilt clung to her mind - and the less fear swallowed her alive. With time, sleeping in the closed Weyr's quarters became manageable. There were good days and bad days, of course, but that would take time and effort to clamber through. Kiba had something to strive for - a goal to become a Healer. Not just any Healer, a Master."

Please tone this down substantially, as staff has asked you to do several times.

-As staff has previously asked, please pick an angle for Kiba. She cannot be both a wherhandler and a Master Healer. It does not make sense for her to wish to be a wher candidate if her goal is to become a masterhealer.
