FULL APPEARANCE: Cynthia is an attractive woman of above average height, with long blonde hair she refuses to cut, despite the myriad of practical reasons to do so. She usually dresses warmly in deference to the High Reaches climate and favors well-made clothes in dark colors. Her fingers are often stained with ink from long candlemarks spent working on her research. She is prone to fiddling with whatever is on hand if asked to sit in place for too long, usually her hair or some convenient knick-knack or other.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
The first love of Cynthia's life was history. She is an avid researcher into Pern's past and takes particular interest in local folklore and tall tales, believing they contain echoes of true events long lost to history. Her barrack is perpetually a mess of half-written notes and any treatise she can get her hands on, as well as random knick-knacks she's picked up in the field. She's slow to throw anything away and could be fairly accused of being something of a hoarder. She never knows what's going to be useful later, after all! When she can, she is eager to take day trips to interesting places around High Reaches, in search of new stories or long lost ruins of ancient cotholds.
Cynthia values the friendships handlers, riders and even firelizard owners can build with their partners. She believes that Impressed humans have a duty to help their bonded companions become the best that they can be. This extends to her partners and she trains hard with both Eliask and Garchomp. Cynthia respects her fellows and is always interested in hearing more about their unique bonds with their partners. She is fond of friendly competition and doesn't mind losing, often trying to prolong games of all sorts less out of a desire to win than a reluctance to let the fun end.
Cynthia is a talented wherhandler when she focuses, but she remains torn between her scribing and her new duty. Sometimes, it seems she would be just as happy to leave fighting thread to other people in favor of pursuing her studies. She is easily distracted by the new and exciting prospects and can try to do so many things, she doesn't live up to her potential at any one. She's the sort of person who will plan a meeting with an important Master five minutes after practice and wind up showing up sweaty, rumpled and twenty minutes late when it turns out she cannot in fact cross the weyrbowl in two minutes flat.

HISTORY:
Cynthia descends from a long line of scribes, proud scholars dedicated to preserving and unearthing history. Cynthia will always say she had a wonderful childhood. Her parents traveled to many of Fort's oldest cotholds, searching for long lost secrets. They brought Cynthia and her siblings with them and taught them everything they knew. While her parents were busy working, Cynthia explored wherever they currently happened to be, having as many adventures as she could find with her blue firelizard, Garchomp, by her side.
When Cynthia turned ten, she apprenticed as a scribe, seeking to follow her parents' path. Life at the crafthall was hard at first, with less freedom and more structure than she was accustomed to, but she adapted and came to thrive, learning to find her excitement in books and scrolls. After walking the tables, Cynthia decided to leave the Hall and travel Pern, searching for new knowledge the way her parents had.
Cynthia spent a few turns wandering from cothold to cothold, until Golre fell and Fort Weyr took charge of rebuilding High Reaches. When Cynthia heard the news, she requested to be reassigned to High Reaches Weyr. High Reaches would need dedicated scribes to ensure no records were lost in this time of transition.
Cynthia's reassignment was approved and she spent the next several turns of her life helping preserve High Reaches' archives and visiting as many of the surrounding cotholds as she could. It was a whole new world to explore! She was also fascinated by the dragons and whers and the bonds they shared with their humans, having never before seen so many this closely. Cynthia long had a vague intention of trying her hand at candidacy but she had so much else she wanted to do, she didn't get around to signing up until 2768. She didn't Impress at the Signals clutch and wasn't chosen for one of Elysk's eggs at the Paper Philosophers clutch. She was disappointed, but happy for the candidates who had Impressed and the exciting new lives they would have with their bondeds.
Cynthia got to stand for just one more dragon clutch shortly before her 30th turnday. It was a strange clutch, two eggs that appeared from nowhere, accompanied by guards instead of their mother. They still needed riders so she stood and once again, did not Impress to either of the confused, frightened young dragons. She turned 30 shortly afterwards, aging out of dragon candidacy.
Cynthia remained a wher candidate and when gold Elysk broke her bond with her handler, Cynthia volunteered to take his place. Elysk, now Eliask, agreed and the new pair began their next adventure together.
