FULL APPEARANCE: S'atyl looks like the hardened dragonrider she is. Her body is muscular, her limbs are covered in small scars and her face usually sports a well-worn scowl, as well as a thin line of threadscore tracing up her right cheek and down her neck towards her chest. Her movements are stilted these days courtesy of heavy threadscore she took to her torso that never healed enough for her to regain her former fluidity of movement. S'atyl dresses like a rider and rarely changes out of her riding leathers.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: S'atyl is a woman raised to believe in earning your place. She's not one to rest on her laurels or wallow in her tragedies. She keeps moving and expects everyone to do the same. She takes no shards and wants no pity. She wants results. Which only makes it more frustrating that this time SHE'S the one who can't pull her weight.
S'atyl isn't much interested in cultivating a broad circle of acquaintances. She loves her family. And that's...pretty much it. These days it's mostly just her, Nineveth and Matyll. Something she is downright PISSED about. Benden forsked up. She's sure of it. S'atyl isn't so blind as to know leadership never really cared whether or not a whiterider made it home. And then they sent Matyll to Fort. After everything their family did for Benden...they were thrown away like so much trash. She carries a grudge.
And that grudge extends to most of Fort, people she knows are far from innocent. From the ones who gossiped and fanned the flames against the Bendenites to Againuth who killed Cairnornth to Nornth herself who might be the cruelest gold Pern has ever seen...S'atyl doesn't trust them and doesn't like them. She's here for her dad. And when he's ready to go? She'll leave without a second glance.
What family she has left are the only ones who see her softer side. She loves her father and her dragon deeply and wants to see that they have everything they need to be okay. For them and them alone, S'atyl has endless patience. Any threats or slander of them will not be tolerated so long as she's around. S'atyl loved Cairnornth and misses him and feels some guilt over his death, since it was partially her injuries that drove Matyll to go to Fort in the first place. But mostly she blames the people who were actually responsible and knows full sharding well it was not actually her fault.
HISTORY
TW: Death, injury
FAMILY:
Matyll, formerly of Bronze Cairnornth
S'vim of White Cessiath (mother, deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY: Sviatyl was lucky in the family she was born to. She was the only child of a weyrmated couple. While she like most weyrchildren spent a lot of time in the creche, she identified with and was loyal to her family, first and foremost. She knew they loved her, no matter what. Because she loved too, she didn't want to disappoint them and put her all into everything she did.
There was never any question that she would become a candidate. She had a family legacy to uphold and parents to make proud. Sviatyl didn't Impress her first time standing but she wasn't left waiting too long either- at the age of seventeen, she was chosen by green Nineveth, to the delight of S'atyl and both her parents. M'yll wasn't like other Benden bronzeriders. As S'atyl had always expected, he was unreservedly proud.
S'atyl joined her parents in the wings and fashioned herself into a rider in their image- brave, hard-working, dedicated, willing to take any task she was given. It was a life she was proud of. And if she heard a few snide comments about uppity greenriders? Too forsking bad. She was doing her job and doing it well and life was wonderful. Sure she had about the political nonsense and Alayna and Pia and other dustups with Fort but that wasn't her problem. She was protecting her weyr and their holds and the folks in charge could worry about the rest.
Until it wasn't. The spring of 2767 brought with it unusually heavy threadfall near Benden. And this time their family didn't emerge unscathed. S'atyl herself took heavy scoring all across her torso and the healers thought she would die. They put her under heavy fellis to keep her comfortable.
But she didn't die. Slowly, she recovered. And regained awareness to find that the world had become a nightmare. Her mother was dead. Her father was dragonless and left alone on foreign shores. She flew for Fort as soon as her health allowed. Nineveth, S'atyl and Matyll only had each other left. She needed to look after what remained of her family.
